Hi Peter
I was diagnosed 1 year ago . I also have found my faith has been a really positive factor in my acceptance of this condition. It was lovely to read your post.
Thank you
Nicky
Thank you so much for your kind response .I also have a wedge in my spine and I think it is muscle pain I experience .Is you pain like a spasm ?
I am a Christian Quaker and I find my belief is really helping with my Myeloma /smouldering myeloma journey.
How wonderful that you can play golf again. My husband is an avid golfers. Love Nicky
Hi Nicky,
Sometimes the pain is like a spasm, but mostly a dull ache when I walk – but it keeps improving.
I would recommend seeing an exercise physiologist and getting a tailored set of exercises/stretches to strengthen your core and help straighten your back.
My story has been one where my Faith has grown significantly. Initially I found Ephesians 6:16 – “take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one”. I considered things like anxiety, depression, anger, etc. (even negative people) to be the evil ones attempts to question my faith. It become my special verse initially.
But my faith grew enormously when one day I prayed “God, what do you want me to do for you, so that my spine will be healed” – immediately His answer came to me – “tell your story in online Forums”. This was strange, as I had never visited any Myeloma forums and in fact I avoided them. But I obeyed – and 2 months later my spine bones has been repaired (the wedges remain but the bones are now solid). I posted my story in this forum and also the Australian Cancer Council forum. (As I am from the Blue Mountains west of Sydney). The later forum entry has been read almost 3000 times. Not sure how many times this forum has been read – but no doubt more that the Aussie one. Who would ever think that I could pass on my story of faith to thousands of people.
