I havent posted for a while as Mike has been well. Mike had a stroke 10 years ago and for the last 4 years has had MM prior to this he had MGUS for ten years. although his paraprotien level sits around 50 highest it has been is 70 they have not given him any treatment as he does not have any other systems. This week he has been complaining about the top of his left arm hurting. This is his affected stroke side he has spacitiy and dystonia in this arm. He is waking up in the night with pain in his arm and taking pain killers.

I am trying to work out if his pain could be bone pain, can anyone tell me how there bone pain felt. [

    Hi Jean

This MM is a bu**er! My hubby has MM diagnosed Set 2006. Only treatment he has had is Zometa. About last 9 months has had pain in side. Consultant thought it was ribs. Sent him for a skeletal X-came back no change. His protein is at 30. But as other tests are stable they don't seem to be concerned. He still has bad pain in side but no one seems to know what it is. They said it was shingles and now say its not. They have given him patches for pain but we just want to know what the pain is but no one knows. I know how worried you must be and I hope Mike gets it sorted soon. Maybe some one can help with bone pain. Although Frank consultant said it was coming from his ribs she was wrong.

    Hi Tom

Frank had a full skeletal X-ray and a MRI at last visit and consultant said there were no changes so he is back to thinking it is muscular. It has been going on so long. Seein consultant in 2 weeks so might get somewhere.

    Hi Jean and frank
Well thats good then as I have a problem with my right arm and its nothing to do with MM its just that I have strained it too many times, I never learn when i need to just get that bit closer rather than trying to stretch my arm I should move closer or move the Table.

Good Luck when you see the consultant

    Hi Everyone

Come on Tom admit it right arm pain, how many pints do you have to lift until pain starts!!!LOL

Slims pain started in his back when x,ray came back had an old brake plus new brakes, told would heal in 3 months,6 months down the line diagnosed with MM.
Only went to doctor,s because I nagged him!!!!
My advice is go to your own doctor, quick visit for bone x,ray lesions on bones will show, but saying that Slim has no pain from shoulder lesions or head lesions only brakes and ribs.
18 months down the line he cannot manage with out strong pain killers, although he has Zometa his body has lost 5inches and can no longer stand with out some form of pain.but he is much better than he was.Eve

    Hi Jean.
I had bone pain in my arm/shoulder prior to it fracturing for about 3 months. It started as a dull ache which I put down to muscle strain, but in the weeks before the pathological fracture it was very painful. An x ray taken the week before was inconclusive and therefore no action was taken to prevent the fracture. I would urge not to let this ride, and get it checked out ASAP. My other arm started aching and it was nailed to prevent that one going the same way.
Don't want to frighten you but better to be safe than sorry.
    Good luck and best wishes.

    Hi all,

I have informed my consultant that I have a dull ache/stiffness in my left shoulder but she didn't seem too concerned (concentrating on getting me through the qualifiers for the 'Aspire' trial) but I am getting concerned that its not getting better (but not worse either). Its been there for just over two weeks and I don't want it to start affecting my ability to drive, which is one the the few physical pleasures left for me at the moment.

I have my 'D' Day for the trial tomorrow… but either way I want the arm/shoulder examined.

Hope you are all having a restful Sunday.:-)

    Hi Dai

I also have a poor right arm and am sure its not linked to my MM and as Eve says its the ammount of pint glasses I pick up lol, I understand your feelings about geting it checked out.

Good Luck on your "D" Day hope all goes well

And you also enjoy your Sunday 😎

    Thanks Elaine

Frank is convinced that it is muscular, As MRI and skeletal X-ray were ok. The dr gave him anti inflammatory tablets and he said they have helped a bit. Consultant won't be happy as she doesn't believe in those tablets. We see consultant in 10 days so as nothing else can be done he is going to wait.
    Thanks again
    Jean x
