    Hi Peter,
So pleased to hear Andrea has got back to doing some of her hairdressing and is feeling better. Long may it continue! Did you find out when your SCT will be? Hope the chemo is continuing to go well and you haven’t long to wait for the SCT. Take care x

    Hi Everyone
Thanks again for your kind messages again we love them all.
My wife is definitely on the mend she is totally back into the swing of things which I’m so pleased about.
My final chemo is on Friday it’s gone so quick 6 cycles done 🤜🤛.
I went to see my new doctor on Monday who will be doing the SCT explained everything to us so just waiting for a date for all things to start.
I’ve got to go for a heart echo cardiogram & ECG tomorrow morning I think to see if my heart is ok for the procedure?
I will keep you all updated & thanks again for everything.
    Take care

    Hi Peter,
Congrats on completing the chemo! Sounds like a very positive consult with your SCT Doctor and hopefully answered any questions/concerns you had? Did the heart tests go ok? Hoping they’ve signed you off as all good to go for the SCT and not too long to wait for it.
Glad you’re both doing well and yes please do keep us updated on how you are both getting on xx

Thank you. 6 cycles completed & finished on Andrea’s birthday lol.
Yes everything looked & sounded great so fingers crossed everything will start in the right direction. I haven’t heard back from my heart echo cardiogram & ECG not sure if that goes straight to the consultant? I have a breathing test Thursday 11.15. I had to have a covid test on Tuesday, isolated today.
Andrea is back full steam ahead with work as if nothing had happened lol, but we do know that the doctor had prescribed her a tablet which apparently she had a reaction to & this is what caused her the problems 😬 so now the new tablet is agreeing with her 💯.
Thanks again to everyone for your help & support.
    I will keep you posted.
    Take care.

    Hi Peter,
That must have been a good birthday present! Hope Andrea had a lovely birthday and you were able to get some good celebrations in on both fronts!
How have the tests gone so far? Have you heard back from the consultant on the results?
Very happy to hear the new tablets are agreeing with Andrea. Good news all round and long may it continue! xx

    Thank you KH0305
Yeah great birthday for Andrea she is definitely on the mend which is great.
I had a consultation with my original consultant last week & he was over the moon with my blood results which was great to hear.
He was going to chase up the stem cell treatment as I’d told him that I’ve not had any dates sent to me yet. Hopefully find out this week fingers crossed 🤞.
Since last week I’ve had no medication that I had been previously taking through the chemotherapy treatment which has left me dizzy & lethargic, apparently it’s the withdrawal symptoms of steroids & other medication & should clear up within 2 weeks 🙏.
So apart from the withdrawal symptoms I’m ok just waiting & as soon as I get the dates I will let you all know. How long do you normally wait from your last cycle?
    Take care everyone.

    Hi Peter,

I’m no expert, but I think it might be an idea to get in contact with your Clinical Nurse Specialist, or whoever is your Key Contact. My husband finished his last cycle of induction treatment two weeks ago, and we already have dates for the SCT procedure. There are two stages – firstly the cell collection, and then, as I understand it, there is a pause of at least two weeks before the hospital stay. We are being told to isolate as far as is possible for the whole of this period.

    Hope this helps.

Interesting what you said about coming off the steroids – my husband says he feels ‘really well’ at the moment, now that he is not taking the chemo meds and steroids!

    All the best,

    Lili

    Hiya Lili

Thank you for your reply and info much appreciated, I’ve sent an email & I am going to ring up the new consultant this morning to see if they have the dates for me as you can imagine I just want to get the next stage over & done with.
    I will keep you posted.

Great to hear your hubby is feeling well after his chemo, it’s weird how it can affect different people, the dizziness & being lethargic brings me back to when I 1st had problems with my coeliac disease before I was diagnosed with Myeloma. I’m used to it haha.

Thanks again to everyone with your info & kind comments. I will keep you all updated.

    Take care

    Peter

    Hi Peter,
Great to hear about Andrea and the blood results 🙂
Frustrating you still have no dates. Dad got his quite quickly but this was back in 2013 and pre-covid which I think has rather messed up waiting times for things. I’m pleased you have chased it up though and hopefully you will get it through soon!

Dad has also experienced withdrawal after coming off the steroids – hoping yours don’t last too long xx

    Thank you all again everyone.

Your comments are greatly appreciated & I must start using this forum more to give me more information and guidance from everyone who is dealing with Myeloma.

    Thanks again 🙏🙏🙏

    Take care

    Hi Peter,

I’m really sorry that I’ve not been in touch for ages, I dropped off the scene for a bit, I’ve just read the update in your profile, but I don’t think anyone sees these so it would be better to post in a new or existing topic (thread).

Sorry to hear that your SCT has been delayed as the myeloma is active again, I hope that they can quickly get it under control. It is good to know that there are lots of different treatments, some work better for some people, it’s a very individual disease. Also good to read of new treatments coming along which will be available in the next few years.

Do let us know how you’re doing. I’ve had to go back on treatment myself after 2½ years of effective remission, it’s going well so far.

    Very best wishes,
    Rich 👍
