Hello, my name is Fares Ibrahim from Lebanon. I am 59 years old and I was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in May 2012. Ever since my diagnosis I have had 2 BMTs at the American University of Beirut. The first BMT was very successful (2.5 years remission) but the second one lasted only for 6 months. I was put on Darzalex in August but it didn’t work on me. The plasma cells continued to increase and the medicine wasn’t basically doing anything. I was told by my hematologist here in Lebanon as well as in France that the only option I have left is CAR-T cell therapy. Unfortunately it is only available in the US and still under clinical trial. My daughters have been making extensive research to try to enroll me in one of the programs but all hospitals have a list of 6 to 8 months waiting list. I am writing to see if anyone has undergone CAR-T cell and if they had been registered in the trial (in the US or any other country) and how they can describe the process.

Fares, I have just had a stem cell transplant at UCL London and whilst I was there patients were having CART-T treatment I believe it is still in clinical trial stage, call the Haematology Clinic at UCL London they will be able to give you more information.
