    Hi Bridget,

I'm sorry I missed your post, I haven't logged on as often as usual due to life and stuff. I am really sorry that you have had to pass 'GO' and get straight onto Revlimid… let's just hope that it suits you well and works for a looooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnngggggggggg time.

Janet's had a nasty bout of something… well, nasty I suppose but it was not clearing up so I took her to the Doc's this am and it turns out she's got Laryngitis… so I'm the carer for a change (and hoping that since she has had it for a week that I won't catch it now). And I'm working like 'Billy O' (whoever he was/is) trying desperately to finish my novel (which keeps on growing like topsy as I try to get it to finish) – Janet's Xmas present (the one she says she wants more than anything else in the world… apart from an instant cure for MM………. Ah, well, back to the book).

Take care and as much Xmas cheer as you can stomach.

    Much love,

    Dai xxx.

    Dear Bridget

I have just caught up with your disappointing news and you are always so encouraging to others. As a newcomer I have been impressed by your posts.

I do hope that the infection has responed enough so that you can have a reasonable Christmas.

I am sorry about the failure of the velcade, but having been reading so much about this dreadful MM I have taken encouragement by posts on the American MM site (Myloma Beacon and Patient Power) which have brought lots of hope to folk who have failed sveral regimes, yet still found something that eventually worked.

Do take care even your new friends, like me, are routing for you.

All blessings at this special time of year.

    Hi Bridget

I am so sorry that you have bin ill, but it has proved that being admitted and IV is always the best solution, with regards the Revlimid it is working wonders on mums protein levels, and the itching seems to have settled too. Good luck with the radiotherapy keep us updated.

with loads of love michelle x x x

    Dear Bridget,
Just a short note to let you know I'm thinking of you. Sometimes Velcade doesn't work on its own but is ok with combinations of other drugs. I can see that it would seem wise to try Revlimid, but I imagine you might be able to come back to Velcade with something else or to try drugs that are in the same family as Velcade in the future.
    Good luck,
    Eva

Thankyou Eva I am not really worrying about it at the minute , I tend to take things as they come after an initial panic As you say there are new combinations coming up all the time .I hope you had a good christmas , my children and grandchildren have just gone home and the quiet is lovely love Bridget x

I'm playing catch up too! So sorry to hear that you have not been well and the Velcade does not work for you. Thalidomide didn't work for me but Velcade did, we are all different! Hopefully Revlamid will be good for you, and as Eva says combinations often work where something on its own doesn't. Hope you managed to have a great Christmas despite the worry and that you are now feeling more yourself again. Take care, Vicky xx

    Hi Bridget

Sorry for the delay in replying. I was so sorry to hear your news. I hope you are better now after the chest infection. Hopefully the radiotherapy will do its job and you will be in less pain. It worked very well for my mum.

I've got my fingers (and everything else) crossed for you and hope 2011 will be a good year. As others have said, you give so much support, encouragement and words of wisdom to everyone else and now its our turn.

When are they starting the radiotherapy? Are you having it at UCH?

Despite everything, I hope you had a good christmas and are enjoying some peace and quiet now the grandchildren have gone home.

    Take care of yourself

    Hello Bridget

So glad you are feeling better never pleasant in hospital your heart must have sunk when they said the velcade didnt work but you need to get rid rid of that tumer first and be rid of pain then on to the next step Revlimid seems successful for most people but I am afraid it will probably be with DEX again but if it works which it should yippee:-) You always post and cheer people up so I hope these posts show we care for you and are all with you in our thoughts

    Hi Bridget

We saw Prof Tobias and his Registrar and they were very good. Both times my mum had her radiotherapy very quickly and it really helped

Do they know you are in a lot of pain? They may be able to bring your appointment forward. It might be worth giving the nurse specialist a call.

    Take care

Hi Georgina I met Prof Tobias last year and was due to have radiotherapy then , but as I was taking part in the Myeloma X Trial and radiotherapy would have inhibited sem cell collection, it was postponed. Jane the specialist nurse is brilliant and I could have seen the Prof the day before xmas eve, I chose to wait as I had just come out of hospital and needed time at home . I do have a very high pain threshold so I can wait another 12 days A very happy new tear to you and your family and please give mum my best wishes love Bridget x
