    Hi everyone,
Wondering if anyone can just answer my dilemma. I had my SCT February 2023 and started receiving my childhood vaccinations after 6 months. At that time my doctor’s weren’t doing the COVID jabs so I had to book online at another pharmacy which was no problem and I had one in June and then one in September. Fast forward to this year and the spring booster rollout and someone mentioned to me that the initial COVID vaccine is different to subsequent ones, therefore I had the wrong one last June. My transplant co ordinator backed this up, thinking that I knew, which I didn’t as no one had mentioned this at the time. My pharmacist said I need to get it done through the my GP surgery (who are now doing COVID jabs), but when I asked at the doctor’s they insisted there was no difference between any of the COVID vaccines whether it was your first or fifth. I asked them to discuss this with either the pharmacist or my specialist nurse but it is taking ages to get them to do so and in the meantime I’m stuck in the middle waiting to find out who is correct and if I can just book the usual booster or not! What have others in my situation had? Many thanks.

Hi I had my SCT in October 23. I’ve just had my second covid vacinne. Both were given at hospital as I was told this was the only place who had the original vaccines. My booster in July is also booked at the hospital- it has never been mentioned that I had these at the GP surgery.

    Hi JB,
    Thanks for your reply.
My hospital has never had anything to do with my vaccines, I was instructed to get them done via my surgery, obviously different authorities have different procedures, but this issue of “original vaccines” is what I’m struggling to get clarification on. What exactly did they tell you an original vaccines was, how us it different to a booster? My doctor just keeps saying there is no such thing, a COVID vaccine is the same whether it’s your first or fifth! It’s actually driving me bonkers now!
    Thanks,
    Brewy.
