    Good Morning Everyone,

    Happy weekend to you all.

May I ask if anyone out there is taking either Curcumin or, Theracumin.

Would also appreciate anyone’s thoughts on this.

    Regards,

    Robert

Hi Robert, sorry to hear your news, it certainly takes some coming to terms with, doesn’t it? Robert, I was diagnosed with smouldering myeloma some 4 – 5 years ago, which lasted for 3 1/2 years. Up until my wife died 2 1/2 years ago I was taking curcumin every day, how effective it was is difficult to say. My wife’s death affected me quite badly and I sort of gave up for a while, and stopped taking curcumin among other things, and the myeloma became active and I started chemotherapy about 18 months ago. What difference the curcumin made I really can’t say, I know some people swear by it. I’d say give it a go, it won’t do you any harm, and who knows, may well do you some good.
Robert, make sure you enjoy your period of ” smouldering ” as much as you can before the myeloma bites, in my case it’s attacked my spine and I am quite limited in my activities at present ( I am waiting for a vertobroplasty operation, one booked was cancelled due to my being in hospital with a non – myeloma related problem ! ).
Good luck for the future, best wishes, Jeff

I tried it when first diagnosed, didn’t make the slightest difference.

I read and read about supplements and we are some 3 1/2 years later and post transplant and I have a view…..

As I understand it, curcumin isn’t a fast acting supplement, it could take a year or more to have any effect. So many of us that have tried it would never see a benefit as conventional treatment would have to be used sooner than any possible curcumin effect.

There is a case study floating about on the Internet from an american man who uses supplements alone to maintain myeloma, he goes by the name of TAB. If you look at his data, see the link below, it took years to get under control.

    Jeff/Scott,

    Thanks again for the feedback.

I have already read with interest the story of TAB who seems to have had great success with Curcumin, but appreciate that although this seems to have worked for him, it may not work for others as Myeloma seems to be so individual.

    Anyway, thanks once again.

    Regards,

    Robert

My consultant said it probably wouldn’t do any harm but there isn’t really enough evidence to suggest it’ll do much good either. Based on that you may as well add it as supplement. I do.

    Hi Tom,

Good to hear that your consultant said taking it, will probably not do any harm.

May I ask what dosage of curcumin you currently take?

    Regards,

    Robert

Robert i take a supplement called POMI-T which is a combination of curcumin, Broccoli florets, Pomegranate seed and whole fruit and Green Tea. I take 2 a day, it has been clinically trialed and has shown benefits for prostate cancer sufferers. All the active ingredients also are supposed to be good for myeloma patients too although there is no clinical evidence that I know of to support this.

    you can buy it online.

I also eat a healthy diet, no processed or sugary food, lots of fresh fruit and veg, very little red meat. Most of my diet consists of beans, lentils, fish and some chicken once a week. I drink/consume very little dairy. I’m partial to the odd glass of wine or beer though so it’s not all bad!

    Hello Tom,

Thanks again for the comments and feedback. I must admit that I had never heard of POMI-T it but then again, prior to around 2 months ago I would not have had any reason to look, but now is a slightly different matter.

I am pretty happy with my current supplement regimen and will stick with this at present, as I’m getting the majority of the supplements that you mention from other areas apart from broccoli however, my diet is vegetarian based (apart from fish), and I ensure that I eat my fair share and more of vegetables.

Not to advertise any local outlets, but Aldi do a great “super 6” fruit and veg offer at 69p each…

    Regards,

    Robert
