I was diagnosed in December with myeloma.  Haven’t started chemo yet but beginning to feel really poorly.  I’m only 46 and have been told that myeloma is uncommon in women my age.  Typical!

    Hi there,

Yes they tell all of us under 65 that it is uncommon but there seems to be a lot of under 65’s with it. The feeling poorly is normal, I don’t know what your consultant has told you but immunity system is severely compromised hence feeling ill all the time. I am surprised that you haven’t started Chemo yet, did they give any reason? As for MM and this website, there are a lot of very knowledgeable and supportive people on this site and no matter how petty you might feel it is, if you have a question then post.
    Good luck.

    Hi Jacko,

I was diagnosed with MM in November and treatment was organised by the Consultant at the MacMillan Centre to start within a couple of weeks. It became a bit more complex because I promptly had a pulmonary embolism but start they did.

Like Richard, I am surprised that you have still not started chemo. Have you had any treatment? I think it might be a good idea to start chasing things, so that you have clear information on what and when treatment is planned for you. Why not pop this information on this site? There are a lot of experienced and wise heads on here who are also coping with MM and they can give you advice.

If you are not happy with the way that your treatment is going, you can always look into
    switching doctors and/or hospitals.

    Good luck
