Has anyone on DVD, Zometa, Adcal and Zomorph experienced hair thinning? I’ve been told by my CSN the meds can’t cause this and wondered if it’s stress-related instead. I’m wondering if it’s nothing to do with Myleoma and so need to see dermatologist but thought I’d ask on forum first. Hair has been coming out more and more over past 5-6 weeks with no sign of it stopping. TIA.

I certainly had hair thining whilst on DVD and Zometa. I put it down to DVD because after 8 cycles and a nice break my hair recovered. They warned me I would not lose my hair but it would probably get thinner. So don’t worry it will get better once you are off that particular treatment. Take care.

I should correct my previous post – it was when I was on DRD.

DVD does have a (Velcade component) and may be this is the culprit. DRD had Velcade as part of the treatmement as well. Hair loss was reported as a side effect in clinical studies of Velcade. But hair loss was reported only when the drug was used in combination with other cancer drugs that are known to cause hair loss.
