I’m smouldering for a year now but in 2013 my ferritin was 3 through a routine blood check for my arthritis but the hospital didn’t send letter to GP for three months who then repeated test and it was 5 so I was prescribed the dreaded iron tablets which took it to 18 within a couple of weeks …it wasn’t rechecked until last August when all this started and it was 60 I had been taking iron tablets every other day….but in all that time I never felt any symptoms of low iron stores …my normal iron level is varies between 12.5 and 13.8
