Hello all, nice to join a community like this. I have looked for treatment information in some medical books, it is confusing. Books did not really answer. Could you please explain the differences between these protocols?

VAD – I think I have been told that it is no more in use. Is this true? Is it for induction?
    PAD – what is it
TAD – Thalidomid – something in poor countries or what?
VEL-DEX  – Some bortezomib protocol, but why is it different from VCD?
VCD – some bortezomib protocol, but why is it different from VEL-DEX?
MPT – I think this one is for those who are not for autologous stem cell transplantation. Like old people with comorbidities

Hi, You are right, there are so many different treatments available for myeloma which is good news but can be confusing. If you have a look at the information on this site, there are some useful fact sheets available about what each specific treatment involves. Probably a better suggestion would be for you to speak to the myeloma nurses from Myeloma UK help line who can personally answer your specific questions. Jan
