    Hi all.

I am on the last week of cycle 4 (my last) and I wondered how long the side-effects will take to ease.

    1. The awful weakness that makes going upstairs really difficult.
You should have seen my husband trying to get me into the motorhome,
a lot of puffing and he had to lift my up with my bum! not elegant!!!

2 The bloating from the Dex. People have passed me in the street and not
    recognised me.

3 The indigestion and 'burps' after eating and drinking anything.

Any answers would be so helpful

    Thanks

    Tina

    1) the weakness well am sure that never leaves you fully :-S or that just might be iccle ole me ??

    2) Bloating? mine soon went down (cept me belly lol) when I came off the Dex 😀

    3) indigestion and 'burps'? well my young bride will tell you that I have burped and trumped all the way through our life together so I cant comment on this one Lol;-)

    Hi Tina
I was on revlimid, dex and cyclophos and took 4 – 5 weeks after it finished for all the effects to wear off, but I was pretty well back to normal then with much better energy levels even than I have now. They never wore off while I was on it. I'm on revlimid now, only as maintenance and some have come back again:-( Hope you are soon chirpy again, must be doing something right if you are up for going away in the motor home, keep it up:-)

    Dear Tina,
The problem with stairs had diminished a lot even after being off treatment for just ten days. The bloating from dex – well, my face lost the rounded look after two months off it. However, even five months later, I'm still a bit over weight and a bit bloated. I'm on Thalidomide and since I add about four to five pounds a day( which I always lose overnight), I've figured out it must be water retention. There is also the weight gain from dex which is a problem. I ended up reducing my calorie intake to a half of what it was while on dex, and mysteriously, I still wasn't looking thinner. The only way to lose weight is to exercise vigorously each day.
Don't beat yourself up about looking weird while you're on dex – it's unavoidable. I do regret all those meals during which I over-indulged wildly while on dex. I was staying in London while I had my intial treatment after relapse, and when I had the energy, we walked to a family run Thai restaurant where I was spoilt rotten with smoothies, desserts and meals that were never less than three courses. Next time I'm on dex I will chew on cardboard and carrots all day, I promise!

    Hi Tina
Well i would agree with helen, if you are managing a Motor Home, thats good,Slim cannot manage ours.
As for the burping or hiccups, just keep explaining its because of the drugs people will understand,18 months and SCT Slim still hiccups like a gooden!!:-

    Hi Tina

Frank is on 2nd cycle Of CDT. He is worse on Mondays when he takes the Chemo and the Dex together. The Frank we know disappears and a short tempered Frank appears. I know what you mean About the burps he is plagued with them. We are now in the 12th day of 2nd cycle and we have a tired Frank back – with burps and all that it brings. His mood has improved greatly and he's back to his nearly old self. Things are getting better for him and hope they are getting better for you. Be well
    Love Jean x
