GP and hospice at home nurses have just left, they don't think dad will see the morning 🙁 But he's comfy and asleep so I can't ask for more. My sister, my mum and I are now "camped out" by dads side … it's going to be the longest night of my life … and I'm so scared! X

    Hi Annette

I just wanted to say I'm thinking of you. I remember doing that exact thing with my mum almost 2 years ago, although it was in the hospice rather than at home.

I'm glad your dad's sleeping peacefully and is comfortable. I hope he slips away gently like my mum did. It is so so hard but you will get through it. You've got your mum and sister there to support each other.

    Take care of yourself

    Hi Annette

So sorry to read your Post, but glad you and your family are with Dad for these last hours. It will be such a comfort to him, and to you later. If you read this, do keep talking to your Dad even if he doesn't respond. They say that hearing is last faculty to go.

I firmly believe death doesn't have the last word. Hope you have something to hold onto, even if it is only that love never dies.

Lots of love to all the family and my prayers for you all.

    Annette,

This is the first time I have ever posted on this forum. I wanted to write something as I feel your pain. I was where you are now almost 2 years ago.

Yes, it will be the longest and most surreal night of your life; scary too. The only words of comfort I can give is for you to know that I and others on this forum are thinking of you.

I hope your dad passes peacefully. Big hug xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
