Hi, Does anyone have any knowledge relating to obtaining Lenalidomide from India. Here in Australia, whether you are in remission of not, once you have had a cycle of either Velcade or Revlimid, you are not eligible for further financially supported treatment unless your FLC’s more than double and hold for two months. Treatment costs $6682 per month. It is available in India for a fraction of the cost.

    Thank you

    Hi

I am really sorry to hear about the lack of options in Australia, but to be honest everything in me screams “are you crazy????” at thinking about ordering drugs from overseas, or is it from the internet? i can completely understand the overpowering desire/need to do something and get treatment, but getting something where you cannot have a hope of knowing what is in it, surely isn’t the way.

    Hi Fiona,

I understand your response but I have looked into it from the efficacy perspective. At some of our largest cancer hospitals it has become the elephant in the room. Companies such as Cipla Pharm. Sun Pharm etc are massive companies with manufacturing in Germany as well as India and with state of the art equipment. Clearly the big issue is $6682 per month compared to less than $1000. It has a big impact on how much treatment you can have. Not everything that comes from India is bad.

    Regards

    Alan

    Hi

I am sorry if i implied that everything coming from India is bad. Not at all. I just worry about getting drugs from a long way away, and not through your own regulated pharmacies to ensure the quality of what you are getting.
I have to say, i would be tempted myself if i were in the same position, to grab life however possible and scream and stamp to get the treatment necessary.
I wish you all the best, and urge you to be careful.
