    Hi all,

Did anyone else suffer from loss of appetite after finishing CDT.

I have been off it now for 6 weeks and the thought of a cooked meal makes me feel sick. I am now on slow release morphone night and morning for severe back pain.

Sorry for the moan. I do feel low sometimes with the constant pain in my back.

    Take care all of you

    Tina

    Hi Tina,

Not just CDT… I have often lost my appetite following treatments, infections and other causes. Myeloma doesn't cause appetite loss, that is firmly down to the side-effects of medicines… especially chemo.:-P

It does wear off and one morning you will wake up feeling hungry with your taste buds refreshed and ready for food. Six weeks does seem a long time but in the long term measures of treatment and recovery it is not that long really. You can request a session with a dietician who might be able to advise but generally I would say wait a while… I am sure things will right themselves soon.:-)

    Hi Tina

I don't remember having any problem with my appetite straight after CDT but I did have days during the dex. bits when I only had small portions. After the dex days I ate anything in sight!

Also, I had major appetite loss after my stem cell harvest and during and after my STC.

My taste buds definitely changed too. I preferred savoury things and even gave away my Christmas tin of Quality Street because I went off chocolate!! :-0

You'll soon get back to normal. Meanwhile literally eat what you fancy as and when you feel like it. 😀

Its not moaning Tina its just an Ask and thats nevet to much trouble for us 🙂
Hope the back pain is soon sorted and you can start that eating lark again 😎

:-0 :-0 :'-( :-0 :-0 Say it isn't so! Chocolate bars and inferior boxes perhaps… but Quality Street… for a sausage roll? How can this be?:-S

If I were you I'd be knocking on my consultant's door and getting a guarantee that this will never occur again.>:-)

I couldn't believe I was giving away the chocs. myself! I gave them to my brother though so they went to a good home.

Don't worry, the "sweet" tastebuds soon returned along with my waistline!!! 😉

Will it happen again? Who knows……..

    Dear Tina,
It's difficult to isolate what's causing what, but I think that morphine can create nausea. If your doctor agrees, then you might benefit from an anti-nausea pill. You've probably already been prescribed some such as domperidone etc when you were on chemo.
Hope you will feel stronger now,
    Eva
