I have had MGUS for 11 years. Latest readings are paraprotein 36, marrow biopsy 5.7%. However my consultant says he did a core biopsy which I have never heard of before which is 25% and sounds terribly high to me. He says this is myeloma and wants me to start immediate treatment. I am 54, bloods normal, renal function in normal limits, no sign CRAB and I had full skeletal x rays 4 months ago which were clear, I feel great and have no symptoms at all. Is this MGUS, smouldering myeloma or myeloma? Any advice would be hugely appreciated. Many thanks.
