    Anyone heard of this ?

Husband 3 yrs post SCT on Lenalidamide maintenance.

Shown a positive PP result for first time of 5.4 but not the PP linked to his type of Myeloma. Showing positive IgG Lambda ligtchain result when original diagnosis was IgG Kappa!

We’re very confused. See the Consultant this Friday to discuss. She says that myeloma can’t switch from one light chain to another?

    Anyone had anything similar??

    Hi jbal,

I remembered hearing about other cases like this.

Smartpatients.com is another forum, based in the US, that has an area for MM patients and carers.

Switches between kappa and lambda light chain MM was mentioned here:

I also saw that article on SmartPatients a few months ago.

It leaves you with the question is the change a lab error, and if it is not, then is it significant or not. It may not be related to your MM!

What did your consultant say Jbal?

    Hi

Husband saw Consultant yesterday and Lambda protein now disappeared!!! Consultant had no idea what caused the anomaly. She said sometimes seen after AST but my Husband is 3 yrs post transplant. The fact it was present in last 2 lab results would suggest it was an actual reading, we’re just happy it seems to have gone and hopefully doesn’t come back!!
