    Hi all
I am a 73 year old male who was diagnosed with MM April this year
I was on b12 injections due to severe tiredness from September 2024 then the hospital in stoke picked my results and phoned me
The professor called me in same day and gave me a rundown of what that meant
He also said we need to start treatment straight away !!!
I have been on weekly then fortnightly Daratumumab injections with 21 days of lenalidomide and Dexamethazone on the day of injections
Also blood thinners and 2 antibiotics daily
My light chains initially were 28000 now down to 1600 and HB has gone from 80 to 123
Apart from a severe rash two weeks ago I have been very lucky with no side affects
Light chains did go up to 3000 about 4 weeks ago and I’m now waiting for the next lot of blood tests.
I use 2 antihistamines daily to help the itching
My questions are what’s the normal time to get into remission ? I know patience isn’t my best friend !
Secondly are there any others on here who have been in remission for a long period of time?
I just want to see my grand kids grow up
Any thanks for taking the time to read this
    D xx

    Hi Goffy,

    Welcome to the forum.

You ask “what’s the normal time to get into remission?”

In varies so much from one person to another, so I don’t think that there is a “normal”.

More importantly, your blood test results have overall been moving in the right direction, and the chemo side effects have pretty modest and managed.

Although there is a lot of focus on remission, it is not the be all and end all. I know of MM patients who never get to remission but who go on for decades.

    Regards
    Rabbit
