I am new to all this. Diagnosed in December with amyloidosis Got back today from my first visit to the centre at the Royal Free. Some good news and some bad. But let’s not talk about that, for now. All I want to say is that I have had a really nice trip to Hampstead. Experienced some new experiences – glow-in-the-dark injections and high-tech scans. But best of all, we (my wife and I) had a great time in Hampstead. The Premier Inn was impressive for what it claims to be. Great staff, comfy enough rooms and good breakfast. Last night we went to the Everyman Cinema and sat on a sofa to watch a film, while a nice young man served us with snacks and drinks. And the film was ace – that thing about Steven Hawking; if Eddy Redmayne does not get an Oscar there is no justice. From there we went on to Carluccio’s, just up the road from the Premier Inn. I can highly recommend it. Antonio would be proud of them. All in all, despite the reason for the visit, we had a great time, though we are practically bankrupt. The meal was £50 including a very nice bottle of red, but that’s par for the course in Hampstead. The cinema was £15 each, and we had to pay £14 to park at the Premier Inn, though that’s cheap compared with anywhere else around. All a bit pricey compared with Ashby de la Zouch, but great.
That’s all for now. We can talk about the serious stuff later. I love this forum already, but I am suffering from information over-kill, and a large brandy.
