Had to see the doctor in hospital today because the Revlimid has made the Liver Enzymes way too high again. This happened with PAD and Revlimid and so all forms of Chemo have been suspended for the moment. However, the paraproteins have increased upto 110. Now the doctor suggested the above treatment to control the paraproteins whilst the Liver Enzymes are too high. It apparently works the same as Dialysis – it will filter out the Paraproteins thereby reducing the effects of the Myolema.

Now, has anyone heard of this before or actually had the treatment? This is obviously a stop-gap measure as it does not cure the Myeloma, just reduces the protein levels. Your thoughts would be appreciated.

Hi Richard, have you spoken to nurse Ellen about this she may be able to throw light on the treatment for you, i hope to ring her tomorrow re my Mum, still jaundiced and we have to see the gastric consultant tomorrow, guess its her liver as there are no gallstones, and naturally no chemo at the moment, she has had 3 cycles of revlimid cyclo and dexy and appeared to be going in the right direction, but all meds stopped now even her regulars, we will see what this week brings, good luck with your treatment it sounds as though you need this to keep the paraproteins down and give you time to recover from chemo, and then restart when your bloods improve , take care San x
