We’re caught a bit unawares that, following what appears to be a successful ASCT episode, the MMR vaccine cannot be administered as part of the re-vaccination process.

From what we can see, it’s to do with MMR being a “live” vaccine, and with a weakened immune system that is still recovering, the vaccine might deliver a measles dose that could defeat that immune system. Only after one year on maintenance drugs can it be considered.

Given the rebound in measles cases thanks to //redacted// AVxers, this seems to present a problem for returning to work in a public uncontrolled environment.

To the question then – is this all correct? Are there any alternative vaccine products that will deliver measles, mumps and rubella immunity, either via NHS or private routes?

    Thanks

This was certainly the case when I was having my revaccination doses post ASCT in 2022.

I checked my NHS app vaccination records to be sure and I can see no mention of being given the MMR vaccine. I also recall I was told I was not able to have the chickenpox/singles vaccine for the same reasons ie. it’s a live virus.
