Dear Matthew, I was recently prescribed at 4 day course of 80mg dexamethasone per day and despite not being a diabetic I had my blood sugar levels monitored with a finger prick blood test, I am assuming your wife monitors her own blood sugar on a daily basis so if there is a problem it should be identified. The literature around this subject seems to suggest that vigilance is a good idea but with basic monitoring complications can be avoided. I would suggest you speak to your doctor dealing with your diabetes as they will have a more in-depth knowledge than your haematologist.
