    Hi all

Frank takes chemo tablets first thing every Monday. He used to take them on a Friday but because of a wedding, consultant said to take them when it suited him. He has had bad reaction which lasts about 30 hours – worse being first 10 after hours after taking. He decided yesterday to take them before going to bed so he could sleep through the worse part. Took them about 10pm, went to sleep and came down from bed at 12.30 pm SINGING!! He has been great form. Question: by altering time, does anyone know if he is altering the good that the tablets do? Hope question does not sound stupid, but just don't want jeopardise anything.

Hope everyone had good weekend and enjoyed closing ceremony of Olympics. Brilliant!!

When I was on CTD I always took the Chemo tablets and the Dex. with my breakfast first thing but was advised to take the Thalidomide in the evening a couple of hours after my tea because of the drowsiness they cause.

Fortunately I didn't have any reactions when taking any of the pills but would have asked about shuffling times around if I thought it would benefit side-effects.

I'm sure your doctor/nurse/specialist wouldn't mind a quick phone-call to tell them what's happened and ask about a time change.

Thanks for that Tom. I have emailed Ellen to ask her. If I don't hear from her I will try our nurse. The only thing is Frank is so much better today than he's was by taking them early in the morning. Will see what they come backe with.

    Thanks Michelle will phone tomorrow

    Hi Jean
I'm told it doesn't matter when you take them. Always at the same time means you are less likely to forget them. Dex keeps you buzzing sometimes so morning works for many, thalidomide and lenalidomide make you tired so evening is often better, cyclophos needs lots of fluid so you can be up all night peeing! >:-) but if Frank is able to minimise the feelings of grimness and side effects by taking them at night then do it, it's another individuality thing. Consistency is the key, so same time each day is advised, ( it what is done when you test medication) but even that is an individual thing too as everyone absorbs and metabolises drugs differently, so roughly the same time of day is whats usually advised.
I'm interested to hear what Ellen says though so do let us know.

Thanks Helen I hope you are right as it has made a real difference to Frank – hope it is not a one off. He actually went out down to Marks and Spencer's. I will let you know what Ellen says.

Ellen replied and said Chemo tablets can be taken whenever suits the person . She just reiterated that Thalidomide to be taken at night and Dex in morning. Thank goodness, hope next month will be as good as this one. Just have to get the Dex sorted now.:-P
