    Hi everyone

I hope it’s appropriate to ask these questions – am new to this.

My dad is very poorly in hospital having experienced spinal fractures a couple of months ago (from extremely good previous health at age 73). The hospital in Bedford have been appalling & very slow. They have found cancer tumours in the spine & suspect it is MM. They are testing now to confirm this. Looking at symptoms very close match with kidney problems, anaemia etc. The process of getting a diagnosis is delayed as he is spending 12 hours a day at another hospital getting urgent radiology.

So my question is this: does anyone have experience of transferring to another hospital as an inpatient. We are desperate to get him to a bigger hospital with the right specialist expertise but this seems hard as he is an inpatient. We missed the right to choose at the beginning because he was admitted via A and E. any advice on this appreciated.

Hope it is ok to post this here and love and strength to you all.

    Octavia

Sorry clearly it should say to ‘change’ hospital. Can’t see how to change header. Thanks

I got my husband moved from one hospital to another when he was first in hospital about to start treatment. The Dr at the one we left was a bit but the registrar was very helpful sorted it for us.  You have the right in NHS to do so. Good Luck

    Thanks so much Gill

Can I ask what the grounds were that you used? Was there a process or did the registrar simply sort it.

Very kind of you to let me know.
