    Hi,

Does anyone know if there is currently a consultant, specialising in Myeloma practising at Royal Marsden (Belmont)? If so could you let me know their name please.

    Many thanks,

    Matt

    Hi Matt

Does this page answer your question?

    http://www.royalmarsden.nhs.uk/consultants-teams-wards/clinical-units/pages/haemato-oncology-unit.aspx

It doesn’t indicate how up to date it is.

    Hi Matt

No, sorry, I’m being treated at Barts. I’ve seen the Royal Marsden mentioned quite a bit when I’ve been browsing the forum so I’m sure someone else can help. Sadly there doesn’t seem to be a way of searching the forum (Edit: yes there is, at the top of the forum – click on ‘Discussion Forum’).

    Hi Matt,
The lead myeloma consultant at the Marsden is Martin Kaiser – I haven’t seen him but others speak highly of him . Since Gareth Morgan and Faith Davies left to go to the US last year the Marsden has been short staffed. I’ve been going there for 15 months and mainly see a locum consultant Konstantinoas Liapis who is also good . The only problem with the Marsden is its very busy , clinics are always overbooked due to demand.
    Hope this helps.

    Hi Phil,

Thanks for this, it’s really useful info. Thought I remembered the consultants going to US last year. I currently travel to Hammersmith following SCT but am considering a move closer, we live near Redhill.

    Hi Matt

I’ve been going to the Marsden sutton for the past 3 years and seen by Martin Kaiser. Prior to that prof Gareth Morgan. I live in Hampshire and its a real pain if a journey to get to. but wouldn’t change hospitals. Yes it is extremely busy. But I’ve found them to be at the forefront of care and expertise.  Apparently they have a very effective MDT meeting where new cases and cases up for change of treatments are critically assessed by experts within the Marsden (which I understand happens in all hospitals). I’m led to believe that even if you’re not under one of the top consultants you’re case will always receive the attention it deserves.

    Good luck

If you are near Redhill have you considered going to Brighton? We see Dr Kevin Boyd there who is excellent. The good thing is that he will happily refer to the Marsden for a 2nd opinion as and when needed so you get 2 for the price of one.
