    Hi
I am on the 4th week of treatment and finding side affects hard to deal with at the moment.
No sleep some nights together with exhaustion and nausea !

Can anybody give advice as to how they deal with side affects?

    Thank you

    Hi Barbie

Sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with myeloma and that you are struggling with the side effects.

I’m a patient diagnosed in 2013 now on second line maintenance,

You don’t say which drugs you are on but I’m afraid that side effects are something that most myeloma patients have to deal with. Some sail through but others struggle. A lot depends on age, fitness, treatment intervals, drugs, doses etc.

My advice is to speak to your medical team who may be able to suggest things like anti sickness tablets or altering the dose schedule. The steroid dexamethasome which is very common has a reputation for sleepness nights and fatigue. You could also speak to the Myeloma UK nurses or join a local support group.

The best thing I did was to keep a daily diary which means you can plan ahead.

They say that it’s a marathon, not a sprint.

    Hope this helps.

    David
