    Ah Lynn,
Your description of what he’s going through brings it all back.
When the chemo kicked in for me I didn’t eat for 10 days and lost 3 stone, the smell of food made me feel sick. Drink was the main concern and I didn’t want to do that but forced myself to.
Wait until the green diarrhea kicks in too. His age may make recovery time longer too. All these are expected symptoms thgh which they’re ready for its just not nice for you or hubby.
On the +side thgh once that long wave has been ridden and in remission quality of life is so much better!
As you said I thk this forum is very good as everyone’s experience is different and it does let you know your not on your own. I’ve always said what your partner has to go through they just aswell have myeloma too as its just as distressing for them,if not more so. I’m keeping all crossed for you and hope thing’s improve soon.

    Hello

Can anyone tell me how long the re-vaccination programme takes after SCT 100 days please? I know Covid vaccine begins first, then flu, then the other vaccines follow. I am told a ‘few months’ for all vaccinations to be given but hoping someone on the forum might have personal experience of how long it takes, particularly under NHS Scotland scheduling.

    Many thanks

    Hi Anne

I had SCT in October 2022, and only finished my main inoculations in August 2023.

Although I still have to have some further “boosters” at I think 5 years.

I effectively had all my childhood vaccinations again! Flu and covid were treated as separate issues.

This was in England and was all done by my GP surgery nurse.

    Good luck

    All the best

    Hi Dave

    Thanks for your reply.

I’m looking forward to re-vaccination programme finishing as I’ll feel bit more reasssured going out into the world again with a degree of protection. I don’t know why I wasn’t told a specific time. I can only assume it depends on not getting one vaccine before the previous one has definitely been given🤔. Interestingly, in Scotland, GP surgeries don’t administer any vaccines anymore as it’s the jurisdiction of Health Boards which makes it difficult to get an answer. Popping into my GP surgery would be sooo much easier!

    Thanks again.

    Hi Anne
Sorry for the delayed response, sometimes it’s hard for me to find the relevant bit!
I am in Scotland- NHS Tayside. I got my vaccinations starting about 6 months Post SCT. My consultant referred me then I got an initial appointment via a call from the vaccination programme. I had to go to a local centre. The whole revaccinations took about six months. Staff were great explaining everything. I had no adverse reactions. Covid and flu were treated separately but staff booked these in to avoid having too many vaccinations at once. I finished July 2024.
    Hope this helps.

    Hi gc

Thanks for your reply. It’s helpful to know the process.

I’m glad you had no adverse reactions to the re-vaccinations and I hope you’re feeling well now you’re out the other end of the SCT journey.

    Hi All,

Just to let you know that my husband might be coming home tomorrow. His SCT went as well as expected although he’s been pretty poorly this last week not really eating or drinking had to have numerous drips, he’s had bad diarrhoea & nausea but things seem to be slowing down. I was quite shocked today when he said he was possibly coming home tomorrow I didn’t think he was well enough but I’m assured nurses will be coming in to administer antibiotics & check his bloods I’ll know more tomorrow I’m sure. I think he will recover better at home I can make what he fancies & he won’t have to face that awful hospital food! & he’ll be able to have a decent shower. So now it’s onwards & upwards slowly slowly.

    Hi Lynn,
It’s good to hear he’s soon going to be home. I thought I’d let you know what you could poss expect.
His recovery will definitely be 100% quicker and better at home as you said but my recovery still took 3 months. It took a long time for my appetite to fully return too but it did. I would just recommend to go at his pace but try and get some exercise in eventually. It’ll be worth it when you both get your lives back.

Thanks Daz I’ll definitely let him go at his own pace & thanks for your help & advice. I think I can now see a light at the end of tunnel

    Regards,
    Lynn
