    Hi

About 6 weeks into my CDT my legs became very swollen and my consultant thought it was caused by the steroids

I expected it to go away when I stopped the medication but it has been around three weeks now as I wait to start my road to SCT and they are no better and sometimes they become really itchy even though they look fine

They do look a little pink sometimes but that's all

Has anyone had the same problem?

    Cheers

    Hi Christine,

After his six cycles of velcade-dex-dox my husband Phil's legs both became swollen, it was only the top of both legs. They were swollen and red/pink as well. Despite x-rays and scans the doctors could not find a reason for the swelling and it disappeared during his SCT in Dec 2012 and he has not had any swelling since.

Hopefully the same will happen for you :-). Have the doctors ruled out blood clots?

Good luck on the road to your SCT.

    Hi Megan

    Thanks for your reply

My consultant has been monitoring my leg situation for the last few weeks and doesn't seem concerned

He did prescribe some antibiotics but there was no change

Hopefully the same will happen with me as happened with Phil and they will just return to normal soon

    Here's hoping!

    Kind regards
    Christine

    Hi Christine

I had very swollen legs when on CDT but did return to normal once treatment stopped. They tried water pills it I wasn't keen on them.

Are your red legs burning because I have just had cellulitis and these were the symptoms.

Hope CDT kicks the MM into touch, and good luck as you wait for your SCT.

    Love

    Hi Mavis

My legs are really itchy rather than burning but my consultant tried me on a course of antibiotics just in case it was cellulitis but there was no change so I am stumped at the mo

It just seems to flare up when I get hot

Hopefully it will just go away 😐

    How long did yours last?

    Kind regards

    Christine

    Hi Christine

My Cellulitis seemed to last for ever. I had three lots of antibiotics. My legs still get red, but GP said not to worry about that if soreness had gone.

Are you in complete remission now and when do you hope to have your SCT?

    All best wishes.

    Hi Mavis

My legs seem a little better now

I have discovered that they only itch when they are really tight and I raise them as this makes the circulation worse

I'm not in complete remission, no

My para protein level dropped to 2.2

I start my SCT on Sunday when I go in for the intensive chemo part

I know it's a long journey but I am feeling quite positive and have some great support but I must admit to being a little scared of what is to come

I will let you know how I get on

    Kind regards
    Chris x
