    Hi everyone,

When my Dad was diagnosed with Myeloma aged 43 years old, I was only 11 and didn’t really understand the seriousness of the situation. I have no idea how my Mum managed to hold it together while having to look after three young children and look after my Dad too. But she did, and almost 13 years later Dad is still here with us, farming 100 beef cattle and seeing his children achieve milestones. He and my Mum are off to Paris this summer to celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary. The strength he shows and the ability he has to just get on with life inspires me everyday. I’m fully aware that there’s no cure for this cruel illness yet – but what I’m saying is is that with the right mentality, a person can achieve a great deal. You only have to look at my Dad to see that there is hope and I hope that some individuals living with myeloma can find comfort in this.

    Hi gjones,

just wanted to say thanks very much for your post and very well done your Dad. I was 36 with 3 young children when diagnosed so I am really pleased to read what your Dad has managed to achieve – long may it continue!

    All the best,

    Greg
