My husband is 3 weeks into to myeloma treatment and due to start zometa. He had a dental check up who discovered he had an infection and recommended the tooth he extracted. Having read about zometa & jaw necrosis I’m worrying about him have his tooth removed and developing this condition further down the line. Has anyone had a tooth removed before starting treatment and what is there any difference between zometa & denosumabe ?
    Thanks Don

    Hi Don,
My dad had to have a tooth removed during treatment. He spoke with his medical team and they advised what he needed to do with regards to his medications. I can’t remember exactly what he had to stop taking etc but they will be able to help.
Regarding the zometa and denosumabe, I believe both are effective in MM but the zometa is cheaper so more widely used (to my knowledge) xx
