Jet, try Able2travel You need to phone so they can ask their questions on 0845 839 9345 (see my quote in my earlier post on this subject)

It works out to about £60 a week for a worldwide trip (exc USA etc) That is covering your Myeloma …treatment…repatriation etc. Your quote is pretty good since your medical condition is a bit more problematic than mine (in remission after sct – slight kidney impairment only) but on the other side I'm over 65 and you are much younger !!!!

I excluded my suitcase because my clothes are worth less that the excess, I also exclude personal effects because they are covered on my house contents insurance (where they don't ask if I have any illnesses. )

They are regulated by the FSA and are the best I've found so far – but I'm waiting for someone to post a better deal/company Re: the previous post about being covered by First Direct bank…I'm with them for banking but they told me that their insurance would exclude the myeloma and anything they could attribute to it – so that would be broken bones, all infections, any falls etc…in other words: no cover at all !

Good luck in your search and your holiday.

Hi everyone
Just to let you know that I have used World First for the last 2 years. They have given me an annual multi trip insurance ,but they do not insure for USA,Canada, and the Caribbean, and have been very reasonable with a declared myeloma, and a broken leg added on in the summer. At present we have put a hold on the policy as I am awaiting SCT so cannot travel for the foreseeable future, but they have covered me for 2 trips to New Zealand as well as lots of trips to Europe.Last year cost me £120—–a bit different to the £2000 I was quoted by one well known company! The company are based in Honiton and are very approachable on the phone. Hope this helps.

Yes, that's very helpful, Caz. Thanks!
From my own research above, it seems they will do USA, but maybe not for every condition????
Good to have a used recommendation… but also not expecting to have any reason to claim, to be honest. Just covering my back!

Yup, I found USA travel is a no no from the point of view of travel insurance (More specifically: USA, Canada and the Carribean)
I've never found a way round it and given the huge costs if anything goes wrong, couldn't contemplate travelling to those areas without it.
As you can see from my quote, even the Far east (Singapore Thailand India and worldwide generally is such a different matter. Its Bizarre ! (but then, insurance companies are !

You are a star of the brightest order:
world first have insured me and hubby including myeloma ,kidney disease hypertension not USA OR Caribbean(no great shakes !)for £222 for us both.Very friendly patient staff, excellent customer skills ,and the most appropriate questions, if not altogether logical, that i have had to answer on myeloma .
Thankyou all

Hi Linh

Glad to be of assistance! I tried almost everyone recommended before found World First and agree with all your comments about their helpfulness. They even insured my mother-in-law when we took her Spain last Easter for a very reasonable amount. She had been refused insurance by other companies, just because she had got to the cut-off age of 85 and has glaucoma!
Cheers,
Carol
