    Hi All,

Hope your all doing well on this dreary Monday morning.

Just thought i'd update you on how my Dad is doing,Well he has been having a poorly stomach and finds it hard to eat as his stomach churns so puts him off eating but he is trying to persevere. He has managed to get out a little for a change of scenery. He has had some really down days and has been carting himself off to bed when feeling off and his stomach upsets have not helped,i guess that could be the dreaded Dex.He has been to his Hematologists appointment all ready to go with his 2nd cycle of RCDa but they found an abnormality within his kidney results so they had refrained from putting him on this till they got a blood test.Had to have the Dr in last week as Dad had a bit of a rattle on his chest of which is a chest infection and is on a course of antibiotics.

Then his Hematologist said expect a phone call to say whether he could continue with the 2nd cycle of which the phone call came and he is to start that today(11/11/13)Hooray!

Also Dad is having A bone infusion today at LRI(Leicester)he did not know about this as it was sprung on him last Friday from his Hematologist. All in all Dad has had no other side effects as i suppose that is due to being on a low dose of everything. But fingers crossed everything goes according to plan today.

    Hi Just a little addition,:-)

Dad has had his Infusion and is to have every 5 to 6 weeks 20 mins infusion of Zometa for up to 2 years,I know a little of the side effects and i know everyone is diffrent but on top of all other meds i can't help but worry:-| .Another appointment on the calendar i guess. Also Dad will be on the up side at the moment as he has started back on the Dex so a plus for him to start back on the 2nd course, but Mum will be wishing for peace i know.I can't help but laugh when he goes on a ramble and he comes out with some funny stuff. But Mum is not so happy as she stated that she would not be going out with him while he is on that:-( .Guess i'll take him out then and we will laugh together.:-P

Hope your all having a good day as you can,

    Kind Regards,
    Illona.:-D

    Hi Illiona

Glad to hear the update on your dad. Glad he was able to go for the second lot of treatment.

I know the Zometa is yet another thing to cope with, but I have been so grateful for the way it helps prevent me having any bones break, as I am at high risk. Apart from a shivery fever type thing for one day after the first treatment, I have had no side effects.

Hope your dad continues to do well.

    Hi Mavis,:-)

Good to hear from you,Thank you for the input about Zometa i do appreciate any feedback about it as i know not everyone is the same as to side effects,it helps me in case he does start getting any niggles.

Though LRI where he attends at Leicester have had new lifts put in with rather fast agressive doors and fortunatley a member of staff witnessed my Dad getting closed in by the doors so much so they threw him into the lift right onto the other side and bearing in mind he has his arm in a sling due to a broken right Clavicle>:-( .He had more than his ego bruised bless him he could of ended up with another break or rebroke the same arm.:-0 .He was shook up and it did give him a wack. This incident has been reported by the member of staff.Makes you wonder who designed these in mind for Hospitals with fast shutting doors. So any one attending at Leicester Royal Infirmary please be aware of these stupidly installed fast doors.:-P

    Take care,

    Illona.:-D
