    Hi,

My mother has just had her first relapse since initial induction treatment followed by SCT in March last year. She had approx. 10 months in remission. We were hoping for longer so this news has hit us quite hard. I’m feeling quite emotional about it but hoping with time I will adjust to the news and things will feel easier again. At the moment I feel like we are reliving the nightmare of the initial diagnosis.
Mum has been told she will either go on VCD (velcade, cyclophosphamide, dex) or CCD (carfilzomab, cyclophosphamide, dex). Does anyone have any ideas about which is the most preferable of these two treatments for 2nd line treatment? Any information about which has less side effects or is more effective in getting paraprotein levels down?
She has been told it will likely be 8 months of chemo with twice weekly injections or infusions. This means they now have to put off the holiday they were about to go on and sadly means they’ll be tied to the hospital for the next 8 months.
Any success or positive stories in relation to 2nd line treatment particularly welcome.

    Thank you xx
