  • Hi Aleathea

Welcome from me too. What a blow for you and your Mum both to be diagnosed with cancer. Life isn't fair, is it. No wonder you have had times of feeling depressed.

As you are on route to SCT I presume you are quite young! That's hard to cope with too, but at least, as others will confirm, you are hopefully on the way to a long…[Read more]

    Hi Ali
Good to hear things are going ok with your mum,
You make sure you take it easy as when this is over ,I think it,s when the hard work begins for the person who is doing the caring,it can be a very emotional thing as well as being aware that it takes so much energy away from your mum.
I kept the Grandchildren away for the first month, and…[Read more]

    Hello Myra!

I had hoped to be offered it after reading a few posts on here from others who had benefitted greatly and discussed it with my consultant, but by the time they had beaten down the pesky myeloma with CDT and an SCT and were considering it for my back, my vertebra had got worse and I now have a few bone fragments too near my spinal…[Read more]

What a rotten trick for the insurers to play on you and Pete, Ann!

If you can get something in writing from the Surgery or hospital to prove that there was no inkling that he had MM when the booking was made, that might help. Do you have a MacMillan nurse/contact? Perhaps they have someone who can take up the cudgels on your behalf?

    Hi Alison!
Hopefully your Mum is home now.

You asked how I am feeling now – well apart from constant pain in my back due to my several disintegrated vertebrae I am doing OK. I was diagnosed after several months of having a "stiff" back when several vertebrae just collapsed doubling me over with pain as if someone had slashed a sword across my…[Read more]

    Hi Helen and Tom
Well he is holding his own, went down to 61.4 now 62.2 so not to bad.
As you can guess from his name ,he has always been Slim,he looks very healthy at 12st 8lb.But 9st 8Lb gives no room for any extra that might come his way.

My thanks to you both, for your support,it does look if he has turned the corner, had bloods taken…[Read more]

    Hi Jean

Well you know about Slims bloods plus kappa light chains!!!,the bloods only give an indication of the cells,If you ask for a copy of the bloods every time you go,its states the results if they are out of the band they should be in it will show you. This way you can keep your own watch on them.

    Eg haemoglobin 9.2 g/dl (13 to 18 )…[Read more]
