Hi Tom, his temp is up and down like a yoyo. They are keeping a close eye on things, taking samples for cultures from his arm and his line – and keeping him well topped up with antibiotics.
He's hungry but can't keep hardly anything down. He had vegtable curry for dinner and really enjoyed it, then brought it all back up.
Neither of us are sleeping very well and will be glad to get home to our own bed.
I am on bottle and pan duty by choice – at least this way I don't feel completely useless 😀
luv

Ta 🙂 🙂
Thanks 🙂 🙂
Page is playing up (multiple entries, can't edit or delete), 😀 Anyway, thanks to everyone.
His temperature has come down and he's grabbing a bit of kip now.
luv from us both xx
Hi Jo, yes he's missing his guitar BIG time. Skype is a wonderful thing – last night our frinds at the pub gave us a live show. Bruce joined in with the singing and it gave hime a much needed boost.
After dialysis yesterday they moved him from the isolation side room to the 'tank'. One wall is a giant 'fan' – another is glass.
He had a bit of a fever so they gave him antibiotics. He's been a bit sick and has got the dreaded poo's. They gave him some fluids slowly through the night.
He feels rough, he says he's felt rougher at other times, but he is his usual chirpy self.
The team are great – all of them.
We will keep everyone posted.
luv
Mal & Bruce xx
Thanks from both of us.
Hi Dai, they are keeping a close eye on his fluids because of the dialysis side of things.
He says he doesn't feel too bad just yet, he's been quite sick a couple of times (they've upped the anti sickness pills)….and he has the dreaded poo's, but again not too bad just yet. Think dialysis will be interesting because he can't just run to the loo.
I'm being very careful to avoid anyone with coughs or sniffles (difficult in a hospital). I'm using the stairs, not the lifts.
Since we found out Bruce was poorly I've kept a diary of all his appointments, treatments – all sorts of stuff. With him being split between 2 departments, it's been really useful. I've had to learn to speak up – I'm usually such a mouse.
Yes, they are testing his bloods each morning, things are ok so far – the doctor isn't expecting it to kick off properly til Wednesday.
I'll keep everyone posted.
luv
Mal & Bruce:-) 🙂
PS Bruce is missing his guitar 🙁
Thank you from both of us.:-) 🙂
Hi Bridget, he started being sick last night about 1 o'clock. He ate his breakfast – then threw that up. Guess this is the bumpy bit. Dialysis tomorrow should be interesting, but at least he'll be in a side room.
I'm staying in a B&B about 10 mins away from the hospital – it's a 2 hour drive each way from home. I'm at the hospital pretty well all day – I can't rest when he's not under my beady eyes. Neither of us are sleeping very well, we aren't used to being apart.
It's our Wedding Anniversary today. We have been married 18 years:-D I bought a tiny bottle of wine, but think we'll have to save it now.
love to all
xx
Thanks Gina 🙂
Thanks, he was as fit as he could be when he was admitted, – lots of tests at the hospital and he played his part by eating as well as he could, getting a bit of exercise and getting out in the fresh air as much as possible.

Hi, my name's Mal – my husband Bruce has MM. He's 63 years old. Last October, our GP was treating Bruce for indigestion, 4 weeks later he had a blood test which revealed his kidneys had failed – he was admitted to Royal Cornwall Hospital straight away. They started dialysising him and started doing loads of tests. About a couple of weeks later we were told it was MM.
The type he has doesn't show up in the blood or the urine, he's had 2 bone marrow biopsies so far. (He says 'ouch') 🙂
Bruce has had 8 cycles of thalidomide and dexamethasone. He's had a successful stem cell harvest. He's recently had tests on his heart and lungs to see if he is fit enough for the stem cell transplant. They decided to run another test on his heart, he's due to see the cardiologist next Wednesday and the haematologist on Thursday. They are being extra cautious because the dialysis is an added complication.
Love to everyone
from 'us 2':-) 🙂
Hi Eliz, we did 6 busks as Longdogs & friends for Myeloma UK, most of our other videos on YouTube are 'slide show' with a rough recording of us added.
One of our friends videoed us on her camera for about 10 minutes. It was mostly snippets of songs. I've uploaded another of them, (C'est la vie/ You never can tell) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sbni0Y8VKN4
We've always done a lot of busking for charity with Buskaid (run by our friend Graham). we've got 2 more busks coming up this year with Buskaid, one for 'Precious Lives' and the other for 'Children in Need'.
It's always a lot of fun and we plan to 'keep on rockin' for as long as we can. 🙂
Cheers
Mal & Bruce
There's a spare tambourine up for grabs if you're ever in Cornwall. 😀
Cheers Mal & Bruce.
Thanks 🙂
