Dear Elizabeth – I have had two balloon kyphoplasty operations both of which got rid of the awful pain but did not restore the 4" in height that I lost. I'd rather be without the pain than the height so do go for it if offered.

Hi David – yes it sounds very up market but just as you deserve. You will soon be reeking of sweet corn once you get your stem cells back. It's sickly sweet but thankfully you won't smell it – but everybody else will!

Good luck and I look forward to further musings from Ward 9 – to be continued …………….

    Love, Gaye

Tina – Thank you so much for your reply and I will let my consultant know. I do hope that Patrick's paraproteins remain good for as long as possible. I will get back to you when I know more about the Pomalidomide.

My love to you both. Gaye xx

Dear Roberta – I too am sorry that you are in this position and agree 100% with what Bridget has written. It's a rotten position to be in but sadly we know all too well that some families respond differently to how we hope and expect. The Mac nurse may well be a good start so do give them a try. If she can't help she will surely know somebody who can.

Remember the most important thing. You are doing really well with your treatment and I too hope for a complete remission for you. You deserve it.

Hello Tina – as you know I was being considered for Bendamustine and Pomalidomide on clinical trials as Revlimid is now no longer working. Bendamustine has now been ruled out because of my low platelet count. I know that Patrick has been offered Pomalidomide under special circumstances. On clinical trial it won't be available until next Easter and my consultant asked me what area you live in so that she could get more details to help me access it. Could you possibly help?

I hope both you and Patrick are doing well.

David, I suspect that he didn't get into any remission, either partial or complete, and that's why they are starting him on Velcade. It's not often that I have heard that happen. I do wish Patrick and his family well.

No Nicki please continue with your name – it just made laugh when I saw it and brought back memories!

I'm sorry you are having a low day. I'm afraid it's one of those things that goes with myeloma from time to time but they do pass and the good ones are more frequent and much happier. Hang on in there Nicki.

Dear Keith – so sorry to hear about your back and rib pain but at least you are being seen quickly for your skeletal survey to find out what's happening. I shall be wishing all positive things for you and I am sure you will keep us up to date with the results.

Fingers crossed and keep thinking those positive thoughts.

Thank you so much Bridget. The joys of a good night's sleep, gorgeous shower and hair wash cannot be overstated – wonderful! I read your post about michellin woman. It really is a bummer when this happens. Have they told you when your SCT is going to happen? That certainly should shake off a few kilos. In saying keep up those wonderful spirits I know that during my hospital stay I went through quite a few lows, not least when I couldn't get the tele to work and could only get a signal with my mobile when I stuck my head and telephone out of the window. Not ideal conditions!!

Yes I totally agree with Min's suggestion. We have quite a few wags on this website and it would be good to have a totally non myeloma section. We all have lives as well as myeloma, so I am all for it.
    Best wishes, Gaye8-)

Dear Lee – it was a wonderful display but when the first crash came I nearly fell out of my seat! But the stealer of the show for me was little Amy, not only for her lovely words about Grandma but also for her accompanying dialogue to the show – pure joy!

    Thanks Lee.
