Warning Shirley!!! PooPees (no folks I meant to spell puppies that way) are a pain. Ours is gorgeous but Oh what hard work. We were spoilt with her honory sister (now 2) Clean as a whistle.

Mind you she is a complete sweetheart and we wouldn't swap her Hmmm for a clean one maybe 😉

Dear Mark I am sorry that your dad has got mm It is still quite an unusual cancer, but our GP said that although she was used to seeing it (huge doctor's practice) she was seeing younger and younger people with mm and your dad is still quite young.

There is a great deal of research going into mm at the moment so let's all hope that it will help some of the people on here and help all of the people that get mm in the future. Best of luck Gill

I think that Myeloma is still quite an unusual cancer (trust my husband to get something unusual) but when we first saw the head of haematology at King's College Hospital he said that mm was considered to be "quite a sexy subject for research at the moment"

I take it that means there is a great deal of research being done so maybe it will come to the fore a little bit more. Gillxx

Hi Keith Stephen (husband mm person) is on Velcade at the moment. He is hoping to go for a second SCT later this year. He get's very, very tired on the Velcade and of course the Dex that goes with it is not a pleasent experience.

Stephen's taste has certainly suffered and the only thing he can get some idea of flavour with is spicy food, curry etc OOPS not a good idea on the medication:-( upset tummies are not nice. Keep in touch, all the best Gill

Thank you so much Jean for reminding me of this great, funny trio (fascinating Aida) I don't think they are together now, but are doing a reunion soon. Their cheap flights song has to be one that makes everybody laugh.

C'mon Ryanair answer that one:-) Gill xx

    Hi Ozzy

1 month before you see your consultant must seem ages away but may seem nearer if you have some targets. Can you phone your consultant and ask when you can start back at work and introducing some "naughty" foods into your diet? I remember my (mm) husband getting quite excited when I first allowed hin to come to Tescos with me after his SCT 🙂 We went very late at night (our Tescos is 24/7) and I shoved him down different ailes if I saw any other shoppers.

Stephen is getting prepared to have a second SCT and is making sure he eats lots of "naughties" now, hoping he can store them up:-S

Do keep in touch Good luck Gill

    What a Bummer!!!

I am so sorry to hear your news. I think it must be worse when you feel well. Stephen got about 18 months and felt brilliant when back ache started and he got told OOPs it's back. I am not sure about the exact time as I was the headless chicken that managed to hide my headlessness from everybody but collapsed into myself. Janet will know what I mean.

Stephen is on Velcade/Dexamethasone, hoping for a second bite at remission and looking forward :-/ to a second SCT later this year.

Keep in touch, much love from Gill

I am not sure if Stephen heard his chemo nurse correctly (I shouldn't let him out on his own:-| )

He remembered to ask about platelets and pp levels and was told that his platelets were up from 40 to 70 and should be 140 and his pp level was 70 which sounds high. He also got told that his bp was fine. mm or not that man is always so laid back he'd face a third world war calmly!!

Thanks for your replies All the best Gill

    Hi Sandra

My husband was diagnosed in 2008 He has had one auto SCT and is now needing a second. Fortunately when he was harvested he managed to produce enough stem cells for 2 autos.

One of the first questions he was asked when first diagnosed was how many siblings he had. Answer none. We had no idea at the time why the question was asked but I believe now that an allo is considered if not enough stem cells can be harvested from the person with mm.

I am a long way off of knowing didly squat about procedures but it seems that allos are carried out more often in the USA than here.

I am sure that someone else on here will be able to give you further information

    Kind regards Gill
