Hi Roz

I am a late bird too. I am sorry that your visit did not turn out as you hoped. I have my fingers crossed that Michael will be made more comfortable and less agitated over the next few days.

Let's all raise a glass (or coffee cup) to hope Gill

    Hi Arlene

My husband was 53 when diagnosed in 2008. He had a SCT in the summer of 2009 and has been very well since his transplant and is in total remission. He is due to see his oncologist in a week or so and I always panic beforehand but other than that we get on with our lives.

He has damage to his spine that was caused by mm before the diagnosis but he still walks for miles every day (started with crutches, then a stick and now nothing)

When Stephen had his SCT I wrote a kind of blog/diary thing on the old site I think you can still pick it up on this link

If not, if you are interested, email me at bodgeit2@aol.com and I will forward it to you.

Good luck to your dad I hope you all have a great christmas and that your dad can look forward to a new year with the prospect of a long and healthy remission

    Kind regards Gill x

It must be awful to have to battle through it and put up with the cold but it certainly looks gorgeous

    Hi Roz

I hope they arrange a meeting very soon, and that the best thing for Michael can be sorted out.

It must be frustrating for you but if Michael's calcium levels are back on track let's hope he becomes less confused.

I have my fingers crossed that the weather does not stop you getting to the hospital and want to let you know that we are all rooting for Michael.

    Hi Sandie

I am glad that others have said about the biopsy as I am the wife of an mm person and so have no real idea, but I can say that I have seen Stephen's toes curl when he has to have them (he does not have sedation) so I think it is a good idea for your mum to be a bit woozy.

She sounds as though she is coping very well with having mm, but isn't it always the way the mm person seems to have the "OK then bring it on" attitude and us around them feel like headless chickens.

    Hope everything goes well Gill

That seems to be good news Bridget and I wish you the very best of luck. Stephen cannot be operated on because there is too much damage and so still relies on MST gabapentin and parecetamol. He has, by determination practicaly cut out the oromorph.

I do hope it goes well for you although the thought of further surgery must be daunting. Keep us all posted.

On a lighter note I did have a bit of a chuckle at the typo in the title of your thread:) especially after you posting about weight gain.

    Hi Roz

I hope Michael is a little better. Stephen didn't have a vicar or anyone visit but he has only been in for SCT and was in isolation. It is probably common practice for the clergy to visit the open wards.

    Hi

Stephen was very itchy when he was on CDT and he used the stuff he uses for his eczema Sudocrem. I am always loathe to advise anyone to use something but this can be used on babies for nappy rash so should be gentle enough and may do some good.

To settle your cells and get then get them working try playing them pachelbel's canon. I cannot think of a more soothing and uplifting piece of music. It is easily found on you tube.

PS you are not aloud to like Elvis AND Cliff it was a rule from the 50s/60s it is either or. You have to make your mind up 🙂

I was Cliff and my older cousin who lived with us on and off (disfunctional families have always existed) was Elvis. It came to blows sometimes and she always got the better of me because she was bigger. My mum used to take Jen's side and I realised in later life that mum felt very sorry for Jen because she would be whisked away frequently by her mum when a new boyfriend turned up.

    Hi David

I am glad that all is going well for you and hope it continues. I got very frustrated trying to read your updates as I could not find them, then realised that you were attaching them to your original post which is a very good idea as it makes them easier to follow for everybody (except a moron like me!!)

    Do post when you can

    Dear Roz

I am sorry I have not posted on your thread before but we have been away.

I just wanted you to know that I am thinking of you and Michael and hoping that he improves enough to come home. It must be hard not to have him at home but his medical team will only be advising what is best.

    Love from Gill
