Thanks, Mavis, for your kind words. We have talked to our mom about the cancer, the fact the doctor isn't treating it, that our goal is to keep her comfortable and she seems to understand. However, due to her memory loss, she forgets within an hour. My sisters and I decided that we didn't want to give her the bad news over and over again. It breaks my heart to hear her talk to my brothers about being well again. It has been very difficult for us to make the decisions as to next steps. Our first dilemma is whether we continue the blood transfusions. Maybe it would be better to let the anemia take over and cause her death than to keep her hanging on from transfusion to transfusion.
