Diagnosed with AL Amyloidosis September 2012. Kidneys,blodd vessels, liver ans spleen are affected, confirmed aftera special scan at the Royal Free Hospital, National Amyloidosis Centre in October. Started VCD 25.09.12 and so far, so good. I am 67 and was working full time at Loughborough University prior to getting sick, very active and fit. I have a wonderful daughter, a police sergeant in Calgary, Alberta, married to Tammy and they have just adopted Beatrix who weighed only 1lb 2oz at birth in December, but who is now due home next week. I share my life with Kev and have done now for the last 10 years. We have decided to make it official and get married this year, but only if I have my hair back in some sort of order(very thin now with the cyclophos) I am very pleased that the wonderful MM community on this site are happy to have me in their company even though my disease is different, but in the same ball park. I intend to grow old disgracefully and embrace everything that life has to offer for as long as I possibly can. It is far too precious to waste.
