Hi Bridget, Thanks very much for the good wishes. Don't be concerned about my state of mind, I'm quite relaxed about all of this, basically because there isn't an alternative, so why worry? Also, I have the advantage, if you can call it that, of having already 'died' after an accident when I was younger. Some years of surgery and recovery followed, so in some respects I'm a old hand in hospital situations. However, I do like to have as much information as I can get, I hate surprises.
Before I get the transplant we have some tidying up to do. I have an ameloid tumour, or mass, on my spine that will probably need shrunk by radiotherapy, a crumbling vertebrae (rugby injuries…), and a couple of other bits and pieces. Still I'm better than I was some months ago when I was more like a depressed jelly, unable to get out of bed, with about 25 litres of oedema fluid swimming around my body. Happy days. Ray.

    Hi Min,

Thanks for the reply. No, I mean 'Autograph', I checked, but the name auto-graft also seems to appear on the web site pages. It seems though that there may be a number of treatments that are similar, or are even the same, with different names. But what do I know…

Anyway, when I'm deep in a blue funk or a foot is dropping off I'll be in touch for moral support.

Thanks for the prompt reply, David. Liked the Freudian slip '…Myeloma is a very individual decease…' Made me laugh.

    Hi David,
Thanks for the words of welcome.
I'm not sure whether it's a new name for Stem Cell Transplant or not. I understand that this teatment involves leaching marrow chemically into my bloodstream, collecting it from there and storing it until needed, after radio and chemo therapies. I'm will be treated at The Beatson in Glasgow.
I'll be finding out more tomorrow from my consultant, but personal experience from someone would be useful. Having said that, my treatment has been a bit ad-hoc, since my condition doesn't follow any pattern, so it could change.
