    Dear all

I also suffered from rashs after my SCT. My local GP recommended Aqueous Cream BP – available from any pharmacy in a 500g pot. I slapped it on all over and it worked a treat.

    Hi only me.

I hope that your mum is hanging in there. My neutrophils dropped to zero at day 7 and returned at day 13. I was discharged on day 14. Diaorrhea, sickness, loss of appetite, hair loss, etc are all par for the course. I found all I could eat was soup and tinned fruit – everything else tasted like nothing on earth. I just pray that you mother is coming through these dark days now. She will soon be home and recovering. 6 weeks on, I was out walking my dogs and building my strength back again. I am sure that your mum will soon be up and about.

    Hi Amelie

I too have suffered itching, rashes and blotches over my body, legs and arms after my SCT in Dec 2009. This drove me mad – scratching the itches just made it worse and worse. My local GP prescribed Aquous Cream BP. This I found wonderfully soothing. It relieved the inflamation, stopped the itching and that desparate urge to scratch. As Henry Cooper said " slap in on" – wonderful. It did not cure the problem, but definitely relieved the symptons.:-)

This lasted for 6-9 months and has now gone away.

    Love Roger

Good luck tomorrow. I am sure that you will sail through the process. I do recommend that you take plenty of clean PJs though.

I had my SCT 19 months ago. The first week was toughish – diarrhea, sickness, loss of appetite, hair loss – all the usual stuff. However I had no mouth ulcers or infections. From then on things looked up. I was in hospital for just 2 weeks and then was sent home.

I was quite weak at first, but with two dog, I worked hard to get out and about with them. Starting slowly using my wife's mobility scooter, within 4-6 months I was walking the dogs 4-6 miles a day.

So good luck. I am sure that after the first week, things will get better day by day. Chase the nurses to give you your blood counts every morning. Seeing your WBC count climbing day by day is so encouring and you'll know that you'll soon be home.:-)

    Cheers, Roger
