    Oh David

Really sorry to hear that! That wasn't much of an increase to bring you off? What exact damage was there to happen to your legs, clots etc?

There is bound to be something else that they can do equally good, so in the meantime Bon voyage and enjoy France!

    Hi there

Welcome to the forum….a funny old club. My partner Colin was distanced in 2011 (October) and had 7 cycles of cyclophos, revlimid and dexamethasone. It was a real struggle but he had an sct in October 2012 after a couple of failed attempts at getting the stem cells out. He has now got to a point where last week he worked 5 very full days….after going back to work end of February 2013.

You can do it. It seems like a long long road, and ok for me to say but with the support of a good family you will get ther 🙂

    Hey eve,

You and slim sound absolutely cracking 🙂 :-). Good decent people battling to beat this bloody (sorry) condition. You've both got a queue of friends on here and non of us would avoid you….too much entertainment value for a start!

As Tom would say….onwards and upwards 🙂

    Hey David

Good on you with those holidays! It sounds like you've got those plans well in hand. How are you doing with your treatment. Are you feeling ok on the velcade? Congratulations on being debt free…..oh not to have a mortgage 🙂 I d old travelled through France, not been there actually, so hope you enjoy it. What part are you going?

Eve, hope you are ok and your positive outlook is paying dividends! Not always easy is it. Hope slim is managing to stay on an even keel 🙂

    Hi carol

We can understand your frustrations. I think a gradual impact following treatment is more common than a big drop…..as hard as it is be patient. I always have said to Colin follow the instructions, listen to what the medics say,ask questions and then as Tom would say, onwards and upwards 🙂

You can do it. There's no right length of time but keep going, you will get there 🙂

    Andy

As per the previous post, I do hope you get your back op soon….it's so hard when things get delayed as you can ready for it and then bang! It must be very frustrating to see those pesky pps staying around the 20 mark! More sunshine and beer to see of it can give them a kick up the wot sit!

    Fingers crossed for you

    Hi Andy and eve,

Thanks very much for your replies and encouragement. Firstly Andy hope your back op goes well, it's must be so painful for you. Colin only has one vertebrae damaged and that's bad enough!, I so hope that you are able to get some relief! I was wondering how you were getting on as I'd not seen any posts! Glad to hear from you! You are right with the holidays too-it's ironic as we were here there and everywhere, now our confidence has been hit. We should take a leaf out of your book! Hope the renovations are going ok Andy…..it's just such a mess but we are lucky at the moment as the weather is great.

Eve, you are so right. Colin is the same as slim, trying to do all sorts. However I do put my foot down sometimes…..since when as he taken any notice of that ha ha!. I do worry about it not showing in the blood though. And of course as he is on heavy duty pain killers for the back, how do we know if his bones hurt or not! Do you know what eve we really ought to just bite the bullet as we did go to Cornwall when Colin was on treatment! I think it's more that we are both in a rut because we are shattered and battered from the whole bxxx experience! I will not let it drift eve if Colin continues like this, he normally comes round to the idea with some time :-))

Take care and enjoy this lovely weather 🙂

    Hi eve

Sorry I missed all your posts about slim and the clots. Your post does make me laugh too….you a strong woman versus a stubborn marine. Oh to be a fly on the way. I too live with a stubborn retired police officer, a real battle of wills! I too would be rich with all the bets!

Hope you and slim are doing ok now 🙂

    Hi all

Thanks this is very reassuring! Jan you seem to understand exactly where Colin is at! I thought it would be plain sailing after sct LOL!!! We seem to go from one thing to another!

We saw the pain specialist last week and although she great….didn't help Colin with comment about his back. He has one v bad wedged vertebrae in back at T12. She said shed had a brief word with back specialist who we see on 25th and she thought the cement thing into the vertebrae wouldn't be an option. What she couldn't tell us is what is an option. Now Colin's worried its nothing….minus the fatigue he's not too bad but the pain in his back is causing him to hunch and he can't walk too far at all. I thought they'd be bound to be able to do something to resolve one vertebrae fractur? We are told all his other bones in the back look good considering what he's been through and no spinal compression? Any thoughts all?

I hope you all continue to get better and feel well….this cure is only around the corner!!!

Vicki and Colin xx 🙂 and thanks again

    Hi all

Thanks so much for your replies…..clearly I am worrying too much and it's good to hear your experiences and reassurances. Jo you could be right as Colin went through a very low patch recently, almost like realisation hit. That said he's a lot better today, as the cycle seems to go.

Ali, we haven't booked a holiday yet, but at present we are having some work done at home. Costing a fortune! It would be great to,get away though sometime soon, probably,in this country though! How did you mum and dad get on with their cruise?that sounds appealing as at least there are medical teams on hand as well! Hope they had a great time…..do you have holidays booked soon?

    Thanks again all

    Tom

You make it sound sensible when you say it! I feel a bit daft but its when your brain starts working overtime and worry! You are spot on Colin does loads and then can't do anything….perhaps we are expecting too much! Tom wise words as usual 🙂

Have you been to Spain yet? Hope you had a great time if so 🙂 some sangria, oh and maybe a couple of vodkas!

    Vicki xx
