Jean,
I know what you mean about not wanting someone ill but shouldn't something be happening. I remember it all being very quiet at first, Colin felt sick and that was about it. I wondered why his bloods hadn't dropped like a stone and it seemed like an age for them to start going down. It was normal. I don't know what we expected, some kind of alarm going off when it got to zero but it was nothing like that. Intact if we hadn't asked they wouldn't have told us what the scores were….I fact at one point early on his bloods went up, again they said normal. We decided not to ask in the end as we were worried about the down time, we knew when it was though because his food menu became very limited due to neutropenic….Colin didn't eat much anyway! The sore mouth and pain that Colin was in was the worst, however not heard anyone else mention pain 🙂
All seems to be going ok jean and frank…..stick with it 🙂 🙂

Hi Ann and Pete
Glad to hear that things are on the mend a bit, the eating will come soon enough! It just feels like there will never be any improvement but then it just happens! It's always slow but sure. You take it easy too Ann, it's easy to forget yourself…..I know! 🙂

I soooo understand how you are feeling. I had a few good cry sessions when Colin was in, and one with the nurses. Embarrassed but couldn't help it. It's a very emotional draining period for both of you. We can't think back even now!. It's so hard because you can't do anything and you want to make it right…
Has Pete tried the ice pops to help his mouth? Also with the morphine drugs, confusion etc. Colin wa like someone off this planet, either dropping off in mid sentence or waking up half way through and starting to talk garbage…..that was horrible and I hated to see him like that. Ann I understand completely why you feel like you do. Colin would be able to give the angle from Petes perspective and he wouldn't want to do this again in a hurry!
Keep your chin up, rest and remember to eat. Tell Pete to think of golf, and at least the blood counts are on the way up a bit….how long has he been in? Each hour seems like a lifetime 🙂
Thinking of you both

Hi jean
Try not to worry too much though i worried if Colin didn't phone me. Colin slept virtually all the time I was there. I watched tv and I think I know the relocation relocation programmes off by heart! Colin felt sick most of the time, but as far as I know was only sick once or twice in total.
It's best when there is sleeping because that means resting! It does feel like a marathon in hospital but it does become worth it, with time and patience. Colin made a steady improvement but its slow and it does feel like it won't ever happen, but it does.
Franks probably sleeping to forget the Man U disaster ha ha.
Keep your chin up jean, will soon be over x

Your dad must be very proud of you! You are an absolute star, so young and dealing with all this. I am much much older than you, and I have found it tough. Please try to get some help, as you will burn yourself out with exams and everything! And you'd be no use to your dad then ! Get a break too because you can have a bit of a relax and just some time away, you love your dad no less, you just need to recharge batteries 🙂
Don't shoulder all this on your own

Hi Jill
Like Helen etc Colin had bouts of constipation and diahorrea. We were told that being constipated can cause a back up in the bowel that can then cause diahorrea when things become free! Too much information I know but it was clear that upset tummy after bouts of constipation. What they did was give him a light laxative to keep things regular 🙂
Sorry if too much info….Colin will thank me ha ha 🙂
Hope it helps!

Thinking of you both…..as the others have said its doable, but b hard and it takes a chunk out of both of you for different reasons. Focus on the future and have a few things in mind to look forward to. The simple things will be wonderful as it never seems like you'll get there….a simple walk, a meal together, a meal out etc. all a new found pleasure!
You can do it 🙂

Hi all
Peter well done with your sct and keep doing but don't over do it…how the heck can you e at work one month ish on? You are super human! Me would be nagging you to slow down, bet mrs Peter is!
Helen, glad to hear that Gary has his cells back, what a great moment! And the thing with the cat, that must be so hard! Best to check but surely with lists of hand washing, cleaning regimes surfaces etc and perhaps keeping Gary away in terms of sitting with cat on lap that should be ok? Hope he is feeling as well as can be expected, and that you are bearing up too!
We still remember it all very well!

Hi all
Jean and frank so glad the cells went back. I wish I could have been there when Colin had his, but couldn't and they didn't invite me to that party. I cried when he told me they'd gone back in! As Helen says its a huge moment! I so hope you and frank are doing ok, it's been such a wait for you both ! now the cells are back in the immune goes down and the the only way is up. I sat and watched Colin sleep an awful lot and at least their resting, hopefully with something good on the telly!. By the way strongly recommend the soft and soothing toilet wipes they made a hell of a difference….:-) if you know what I mean!
By the way, am loving your little bump pictures, a real cutie….what's his or her name? Lovely
Helen, glad to hear you are globe trotting! We loved lanzerote, especially the lunar landscape inspired by the famous artist from the region, can't remember his name. Impressed you paint Helen, me was o,level art….failed 🙂 by a LONG way! Glad you are feeling ok….keep it going
Best of luck jean and frank, thinking of you x

Hi Tina,
Hope you are progressing well and feeling better each day 🙂 I don't know how they work it you know….I suppose they are checking general remission averages, based on the masses of who takes it and who doesn't? Who knows. Colin elected not to take it in the end, his call and hopefully not affecting his remission rates…….
Hey HO! Keep well
Vicki and Colin x
Tom you are hilarious!
Brightens our day…..would it be posh crisps and nuts or just common peanuts haha! 🙂
