Hi Ali,
Hope you had a great birthday. Wondered how your mum was doing? Colin has had a rough day following his cyclo priming, but is eating quite well so I'm happy 🙂

Hi Scott
I really hope this drug works for you. Like you say this condition is a real roller coaster. I am pleased to hear you can still play golf. Colin used to play and awful lot of gold so this will give him some heart that it's still possible to play golf with mm!
Good luck to you

Hi Tom,
Thanks for the support, will pass on your best to Colin. Well he's home, said he felt washed out and a bit swim my and like he wasn't here if that makes sense. Just packed him off to bed with sickness tablet and some other ones to do with the bladder. Then I can wake him up with another sicky type table at 9pm and another one we are told to do at 5am! In the morning.
However one good thing much to my amazement he ate a good evening meal….and pudding! Best meal he has eaten it weeks. I reckon it was relief to get it over with. Mind you, he did say if this chemo makes him feel like this what will the next one be like! LOL
Have a great weekend
Vicki and a shattered Colin x
Well what a blinking day so far!
Went to hospital 0930am today. Appointment 10am. Colin went in at 1115, and they did obs(I assume blood test stuff!). We then found out that his neutrophil count at the hospital last Monday had been 0.6, so there a possibility no chemo today. That's the first up and down of the roller coaster. THEN, neutrophils for today come back at 1.56? Chemo on…..great news Iif you can say that. Colin tells me he'll b about 1.5 hours so off I go to merrily do the shopping….get back to hospital, chemo stopped for a bit Colin felt unwell. Sicky, headache etc, so then he finishes and they want to keep him in a bit for fluid?
So i am home, minus Colin. Back to the hospital at five. Did anyone say this treatment lark was straightforward 🙂

Good luck dai,
Hope they can sort it and beat it into submission. That infection has had it's fun for long enough

Hi Tina,
Hope you enjoy your break. Colin had his Hickman line fitted recently and he has got on ok with it. We had a bit of a false start with the stem cell harvest, first one failed, but apparently very common that happens. He is having cyclphosmhide cycle priming today and ready for gcsf injections next week. Then harvest again 3/4 September. It's all very daunting when you start but thanks to all on here, seems to be worth it. So you go away and enjoy your break and build yourself up for the next stage!
Best wishes

Ali
Thanks so much. No he is just in for the day we are told. Fingers crossed, and thanks for thinking of us. Not sure what he is dreading most….the chemo or me doing some DIY painting the porch (not my strongest skill, wanting it all done yesterday is my problem!).
Hope you have a great day and your mums doing well, will keep you posted

Hi Pete and ann,
Glad the appointment went well and the blood counts playing ball. Like you say if they don't seem too worried about the swelling then I'd try to reassure yourself that it's ok. I hope they can do something for Peres back pain. Colin does get it occasionally, even with the painkillers. Colin was a bit fed up as when they measured his height he had lost 3 inches, he couldn't get over it. It made him feel quite low as he used to be much taller than me and we are now about the same. Apparently it's because of the bones getting softer and scrunching (my medical term!) together. I had hoped they could do some balloon kyphoplasty (cement in the bones thing) to improve his posture where the vertebrae went and restore dome of the height, but they won't do that unless he has lots of pain!. I don't care as long as he is ok, but I can see it from his perspective.
Well tomorrow here we go again….a real shame because he has been feeling quite well, still, no pain no gain!
Take care both. Will keep you posted.

Hello Craig and etta,
Very best of luck to you both. Really hope that etta feels better soon….and for you Craig the disappearance of the sweetcorn!. That sickness must be really tough. I am sure I read on Ali's post about her mum not tom wait until you even feel sick but get the anti sickness pills on the go ASAP. Hope I'm right?
Best wishes

Hi Ali,
Welcome! My partner Colin was diagnosed in October 2011 following a random blood test and a bad back. Colin and I were completely shocked because until that time we had never heard of this condition!. He was 55 then and I am 45. The good news once we came to terms a little bit with what we had heard was 7 cycles of cyclophpmasmahide, dexamethasone and revlimid put Colin into remission, with a SCT planned for 24/9/12.
Colin did not like the dex… It made him a bit moody or tearful and he had real problems with his sleep pattern. I get the impression from this forum the drug does have some side effects. He also had terrible hiccups.but the positive was that the treatment has worked!
Best of luck

Hi all,
Firstly, Tom you are right Got the date wrong….it is Friday 24th…….so happy birthday for Friday Ali. You got an early birthday present with you mum coming home. Hope she is doing well.
We have both been looking at all of your comments and we are so grateful and buoyed up by the words of encouragement and support. We just need to prize those stem cells out of colins bone marrow! Still he 's always been stubborn so bound to hang on to them for as long as possible!
Once again thanks from both of us, will keep you posted!

Hi liz and kev,
Sorry it has been rough few weeks….and the bone problems, let a hope they can do something to give the old back some support. This treatment is a battle isn't it! As you say trying to keep positive but it's hard sometimes isn't it.
Keep your chins up and infections away!
