Hi Ann , long and tough day testerday

collection of stem cells but very successful they managed to get enough for 2 transplants so that was good to hear but unknown to me he doesn’t say much due to the injections for the whole week b/4 he did suffer lower back pain , flu symptoms and fatigue but apparently it’s a good sign as it means the body is suppose to be like that ready for the collection process now it’s a matter of when he has the transplant but now ATM no drugs just relax and get over what’s happened to his body the last few months ready for the next stage good luck to you both hope treatment goes well remain positive ask me anything you want I don’t mind at all x Annmarie

My husband was diagnosed on march the 1 st after a MRI scan showed a break in his l3 vertabre which led to blood test which led to diagnosis .started vtd treatment on march the 3rd and what a difference these drugs and the morphine tablets he is now on have made he is walking now and now can put his own shoes and socks on again ( unable to do this since November) he has now finished his vtd and tomorrow we go in to the hospital for his stem cell collection ready for transplant end of June/July . I must say he has had a new MRI done and the consultant said no treatment is needed for the break . Is it the complete rest he has had since November or is it the vtd treatment I honestly do not know I am no consultant but I only witnessed the less pain he now shows on his face and the amount of morphine he now takes was taking 16/18 per day now on about 6 on a bad day hang in there stay positive it’s the best way to be ! My husband is 52 and generally a fit person who has worked on the building industry since leaving school hope the vtd treatment is as good for your husband sending the bestest whiches to you both x

Sorry sabs I should have said his MRI scan taken 3 weeks ago after 3 cycles of treatment for myeloma shows a very significant improvement no break showing at all is this the medication helped by not being in work and completely rested since November I do believe it’s the meds that have speeded the back recovery x hope this makes sense

Hi sabs. Don’t know if this is of any help to you all situations are different we discovered by chance my husband has myeloma because of an MRI scan showed he had broken is l3 vertabre and was in severe pain indeed after blood tests and bone marrow test myeloma was discovered he was in lots of pain indeed and was taking 16 plus morphine a day after treatment of vdt he is no longer in severe pain he knows it’s not perfect but happy it’s so much better  he is now able to walk and now can put his socks and shoes on again ! He still takes morphine 1 slow release in the morning and 1 at night (15mg) and takes 4/6 (5mg) throughout the day .but feels so much better with his back we have now finished his 4 th round of vdt and next week harvest his stem cells ready for transplant sometime soon wishing you all the very best on this journey hope this may help x Annmarie

My husband was diagnosed on march the 1st came as a shock like most cases do he is now on his fourth round of vtd he is tired on some days but his main problem has been constipation which has made him feel really unwell and can go 3/4 days without going which is not very pleasant as you can imagine . Today we have been to hospital and we are now preparing for his harvesting of his stem cells ready for transplant hopefully in June / July but onwards and upwards it’s a tough journey with some ups and downs along the way but we will get through this and come out stronger as a couple x my husband is 52 and this was discovered very much by chance but since diagnosis until now things have moved very fast and hopefully going in the right direction all good thoughts tonyou all on this journey and wish u better health for the future
