  • Hi Scott

Hope the weather has improved and you are sitting in the sun. Hope your wife hasn't spent all the money in the shopping centre

Been really cold here but has improved today and tomorrow will be better. I will be gardening, although I have employed someone to cut the grass as I don't have the time when I am visting Ian in…[Read more]

    Hi Eve

I have been thinking of you and hope that Slim got good results from the consultant today.

I too have hayfever, no bluebells here but lots of daffodils.

It's our anniversary on 30th May, 5 years as it's my second marriage but we have known each other for 10 years. Ian is getting out of hospital to go to a restaurant for lunch.…[Read more]

  • Hi Eve

Ian is cycling half a mile a day on the foot pedals and also lifting weights so building up the muscles. It is very hot in the ward just now and he is only allowed 1 hour in the wheelchair or I would take him outside.

Got gardener sorted out, now thinking of getting the ironing done.

Hope Slim's BMB will show a good…[Read more]

  • Hi Scott

Sorry to hear your SCT didn't work. Go to spain and enjoy your holiday. What part of Spain are you going to?

  • Hi Eve

Packs arrived and I will take the to the local gp's and hope it can save someone in the future from late diagnosis.

Ian is getting stronger but still only getting out of bed for 1 hour to let the bed sore heal. He is getting to the gym and cycled for half a mile so it seems promising. His mental state is so much better. I am going…[Read more]

Can you email me the article for gp's to look out for myeloma.

    Thanks

  • Hi all

We all have to complain about poor gp's and doctors. Ian's surgeon said he would back us up if we need him. He also said that Ian had classic signs of myeloma and the gp and a good physio should have pciked this up.

No SCT planned for Ian. Got blood results today and light chains now 130 but consultant said all other bloods etc…[Read more]

  • Hi Eve, Tom & Tom

Ian first went to his gp in April suffering from back pain and tingling down both arms with weak hands. Sent away with pain killers. Went back several times to gp as back pain increased in the cervical thorasic area and he had a lump in his back. He was sent to see a specialist at our local hospital. Specialist advised he…[Read more]

  • I have submitted my letter of complaint to NHS regarding the late diagnosis of myeloma of my husband Ian. I received a phone call from NHS and Morag has advised that they are treating this as red and it may take a little longer to resolve as they want answers from all sources of all who were involved with Ian's care.

    They will advise the…[Read more]

    My email address is maureen_cerdan@yahoo.co.uk.

Going to ask consultant why Ian will get no maintenance so I would appreciate if you could email me the article.

Hope you are still keeping well.

    Thanks

Can you email me the report on maintenance?

    Hi Eve

Might take a leaf out of your book as am running around trying to fit everything in. Every time I feel like baking or not using the dishwasher, I can hear you say make it easy on yourself. Still working 2 half days and one full day, running to the hospital and taking in meals for Ian. His bed sore is healing and he is now allowed up…[Read more]

    Hi David

Hope you are feeling better and the pain has subsided. Enjpy your trip to London.

Consultant advised that Ian wouldn't be going to my daughter's wedding in London on 6 July. I haven't told him yet as I am still hopefull. He is still stuck in bed with this bed sore.

  • Hi Helen

Sorry you have had a relapse but try to stay positive. I will put up a prayer for you.

  • Hi Dai

Ian's treatment stopped to allow his bed sore to heal as it is quite deep and could have gone into his bones. It is looking a bit better but still have a few weeks before it has healed. He is not allowed out of bed and is on a 30% tilt to take the pressure of the wound, so we cannot go forward until the bed sore is healed.

    No SCT at…[Read more]

  • Hi Jan

Ian's light chains were initially 4000 and now 52 after 3.50 cycles od CDT so he has had a superb response. No SCT at present as he is still bedridden but who knows whaT will happen in the future. One day at a time.

Only hope this bed sore will heal soon and he will get more intensive physio so we can see how mobile he can…[Read more]

  • Hi Helen

Are you sure you're not a mathemetician? I will ask the consultant what Ian's light chains are on both kappa and lambda. Thanks for the information.

Ian's were initially 4000 and now down to 52 after 3.50 cycles so he has had a superb response. Hope he is in remission a long time.

    Love Maureen

  • Hi Jan

Thanks for the information. Ian's light chains are 52 and the treatment has stopped. He is receiving zometa every 3 weeks at the moment and being monitored by the NHS. Consultant said 52 was near normal bloods. What is normal? SCT is ruled out at the moment until we see how much mobility Ian has.
