    Thank you Ann

I have come along way in the last 5 years, 4 years of Slims illness and 1 year on my own,it’s a big learning curve, and I still look in on cyber friends, see how Tom or Andy plus a few others if they don,t post on the Facebook site UK Myeloma ,I worry. So Myeloma never really leaves my world although Slim has gone.

    I just wanted to…[Read more]

  • Hi Everyone

Many of you won,t know me,as you will be newbies! But the old crowd will, the reason I am writing this,is that Slim always worried how I would manage once he died.

I have decided to let you know what has happened to me,I lost Slim one year ago on the 27 of August and I suppose it’s reflection time, although not a day goes by without…[Read more]

    Dear Susie
You are allowed to feel like this, it’s so overwhelming, just when you think it’s all going ok , you get clobbered again and have to start from square one, it’s a bit like snakes and ladders and it is hideous. I couldn’t believe I was relapsing after my SCT so didn’t ask for the numbers for 2 months – until I was told I had to be…[Read more]

Another dex night – midway through cycle 11 and facing the long night of reading and late night TV – son back from uni and still no work! He says he needs a holiday ! – I’m finding this very stressful so have given up whinging at him , though a bad dex day tomorrow might galvanise him into action!,
    I’m…[Read more]

  • HI ANDY, JAN, MAUREEN AND CYGNET, I JUST TYPED A VERY LONG REPLY AND TO EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU, THEN I ACCIDENTALLY PRESSED THE 2, ABOVE RIGHT, AND LOST THE LOT!
Suffice to say I’m not going to repeat it all.
    Briefly
Bloods stable and I’m still remarkably ok. Bad tempered and grumpy but the old man assures me there is no change from…[Read more]

  • Hi,

I’ve also read quite a lot of information about cancer loving refined sugar. I think you are absolutely correct to see whether reducing refined sugar from your diet can reduce your myeloma levels. I hope your myeloma continues to show improvement.

Have you had a chance to read the interesting discussion on the forum section of the…[Read more]

    Hi Lolly

The combination of drugs is certainly working for Steve. I suspect his cold sensations and voice changes are all part of the many side effects which we can experience from the cocktail of cancer drugs in our bodies. Because maintenance drugs are not yet approval as regular treatment for myeloma in the UK, perhaps if you read through some…[Read more]

    Hi Mervyn

You sound like you are coping well with the treatment. I wouldn’t worry too much about your appetite, because eventually it will return once your body recovers. I couldn’t eat any food for ten days whilst in hospital following my SCT due to constant nausea and sickness even with three different types of anti-sickness drugs. I slept…[Read more]

  • Hi Helen

Good news about your son completing his final recital for his degree. I hope he manages to achieve a good result and find work which he both enjoys as well as pays his bills. Will he be staying with you at home? You will certainly have your hands full trying to scale down your belongings and items before you move into a smaller…[Read more]

    Hi Val,

As you say, it’s far better the medics found Peter’s myeloma readings before his SCT. He is in the right place to receive more chemo and to be carefully monitored in hospital throughout the process. Dealing with the ups and downs of such news is so stressful and worrying for both of you. As Maureen suggests, please see whether you can…[Read more]

    Hi Lolly

So pleased to read Steve is still in remission and long may this continue. What drugs is he currently taking as part of the trial? What parts of his body does he feel cold? Does he get the feeling during the warm or cold weather, or throughout the year?

Although the readings for my body temperature are quite normal, I feel my…[Read more]

  • Hi Andy
How was Belgium? I’ve never been there. I understand they Belgians make good beer!
I’m not getting headaches this time so maybe I just had a bug, I’m still ok really, one or 2 rough days each week but pretty good overall. Fingers crossed it stays this way. Still no sense of smell or taste, and irritatingly numb fingers toes nose and…[Read more]

    Dear Vikki and Colin
Congratulations to you both, isn’t it amazing how people can pull something together like this, you must be very proud of them all, though I’ve no doubt you did lots!
I’m hoping you enjoy many more such happy days.

  • Hi Helen

So pleased to hear your results are ok to enable you to continue with your treatment and enjoy your holiday home.
