    Hi Eve

Ian is being turned in bed every 2 hours so there will be no more bed sores. He is making progress with mobility but we do not know if he will walk as the tumour compressed his spine and when he started taking steroids which attacked the tumour, his spine started collapsing. Had operation, pin put in to support spine. Been in rehab since March. Spoke to consultant today, he is going to look at bed sore tomorrow and see anything can be done to make it heal quicker but it is a slow process. Also asked about transferring to Glasgow but he doesn't think Ian will suitable . I have phoned Glasgow and I am waiting on a reply.

Ian is now learning to transfer from bed to wheelchair .When he can master this and get into the car, I am taking him home. Can't come too soon.

    Love Maureen

    Hi Eve

I have asked the staff nurse to have a word with Ian's consultant in Falkirk for his views on Ian being transferred to Glasgow. Now approaching 8 months in hospital and still hampered by bed sore. Ian is learning to transfer from the bed to wheelchair so maybe it won't be too long until he gets home.

    How are you both?

    Hi Eve

It is not the nurse's fault but as you say the men in gray suits. Mor patients and the same number of staff, who try to do their best. Some better than others. Ian is improving and getting stronger. Got 20 mins physio and I do 15 mins with him when I visit. He is trying to lift himself out of the wheelchair and does with a little help. I have asked the staff nurse to ask the consultant if Ian should be moved to a spinal unit but Ian is reluctant to go as it would mean fewer visits as it is further away.

Sorry to hear you had to cut short your holiday and hope that Slim will get a long remission on Revlimid. We go to FVH on Monday to get the results of Ian's bloods and light chains. Hopefully they will not have risen.

Take care and love to you both.

    Hi Pauline

I have asked for a print out each month of Ian's blod results. I am not too sure what I should be looking for but will get help on this site.

    Take care and calm down.

    Hi Tom

Hope all goes well and you get full remission.

Ian used to do most of the heavy work in the garden so I've hired a gardener to cut the grass. Wore myself out on Sunday cutting back a huge shrub so I'll leave that to gardener too.

    Take care

Thanks to all for the good wishes for our anniversary.

Ian coped better than he expected. Taxi journey was a bit or an ordeal. Getting out nearly every day for a short while now that the good weather is here at last.

I have arranged lunch for my 60th (23 June)for family and some friends. I hope it will be a good day.

Got 2 granddaughters aged 2 and 4 whom I love to bits and they also keep me busy.

Hope life is good for you at the moment and the treatment is going well.

Ian gets blood results on 10th June so hope the myeloma has not returned YET.

    Hi Helen

Ian is still not able to get out of bed himself, but he is getting stronger and maanges to cycle and pull weights in the gym at rehab. I also do some physio with him when I visit and have bought a dvd which he can excercise to in bed. I have thought about putting it on the tv in the hospital room and getting the other patients doing some disco work.

    How are you?

    Hi Helen

I am going to my daughter's wedding in London on 6 July and this will be the first time I will leave Ian behind. I don't like to leave Ian yet when he is still in hospital and can't get out of bed himself yet. He is improving and the bed sore is still healing so he will be able to get out of bed for another hour.

Wasn't sucessful in the ballot for tickets to Wimbledon.

    Hope you are well.

    Hi Pauline

If you have any questions, you can phone the nurse on the myeloma sight who can answer all your queries. I would phone her about the swollen legs as it can be a blood clot even though Marc is getting injections.

It takes a lot of getting used to. My hubby Ian is still not walking as he had a damaged spine due to late diagnosis and had to have surgery. We do not know what mobility he will have. He is also my toy boy as he is 2.50 years younger than me. This is my second marriage and our 5th anniversary is on Thursday. We are going from the hospital to a restaurant. He is in rehab but is hampered by a bed sore which is taking ages to heal.

Ian had 4 cycles of CDT and his light chains fell from 4000 to 130 and he is no longer on chemo. We hope he will get a long remission.

It must be hard for you being in a wheelchair and having to look after Marc now.

    Hi Pauline

Sorry to hear your hubby Marc has mm and so young. We all suffer from shock when our loved ones are firstly diagnosed. My husbnad is 57 and has been in hospital for seven months due to late diagnosis which consisted of a compressed spine. We learn to adapt and take each day as it comes. As Andy says each day is a gift.

    Take care

    Hi Eve

Sorry that Slim has relapsed, but hope that revlimid works. I think that is Ian's next treatment when he relapses. Enjoy your holiday in France and keep thinking positive.

You must be a romantic to want to get married on 14 February. Ian proposed to me in Rome in a really nice restaurant. Our first holiday was in Bermuda. We were in a taxi and the driver sang What a Wonderful World just like Louis Armstrong. I heard it on the car radio yesterday and cried as we had a wonderful time together and I miss him so much.

    Hi Christine

My husband Ian has not been offered an SCT as he is not mobile at the moment but consultant said that after looking at all options SCT is not now considedred as first treatment. This is also the opinion in the US as there are other treatments that work without being so invasive.

Hope they can find an alternative for Chris.

    Hi Scott

Hope the weather has improved and you are sitting in the sun. Hope your wife hasn't spent all the money in the shopping centre

Been really cold here but has improved today and tomorrow will be better. I will be gardening, although I have employed someone to cut the grass as I don't have the time when I am visting Ian in hospital.

    Take care

    Maureen
