Thanks for your reply. We are trying to stay positive as the bed sore has to heal before Ian can move forward. We just take a day at a time.

My daughter is having a civil wedding in July in London and hopefully Ian will be well enogh to attend. That is his next goal.

    Hi Eve

Ian got the bed sore when he was in Edinburgh waiting for his spinal wound to heal. The nursed there turned hime every 2 hours but when he was transferred back to FVH the nurses didn't turn him as they said the air bed was enough. This is what has set Ian back and he is now getting turned every 2 hours. I

I am working 3 days and the hospital is 30 minutes away which is quite exhausting twice a day as I have done this for 4 months now. Poor Ian I cannot think what it is like to be in his position but I try to make him positive and keep him busy. I took him in a samsung tablet so he can download puzzles etc.

We take every day as it comes and sometimes with a little help from a pill.

    Take care

    Hi Eva

We don't know yet how mobile Ian will be but doctor is quie sure he will be.

I visit Ian twice a day from 2-3pm and 6.30 to 8pm. I live 30 minutes away from Falkirk and finding it hard and exhausting some times. His family are visitng today and tomorrow at 2pm which gives me 2 days to catch up with housework.

I am taking time out and going shopping this afternoon then meeting with a girl friend for dinner and cinema.

I did ask the question of our private health is Ian could have private rehab and liase with an NHS hospital nearby for myeloma. If I supply with them a statement from his consulatant what physio and rehab he needs they think it will be possible. Ian isn't too keen to move at the moment as it will either be Glasgow or Edinburgh and I can't visit every day. We will wait and see what progress he makes in Falkirk.

    Hope you are keeping well.

Pleased that your treatment is working. The waiting time you had was horrid and I hope you continue to keep well.

Ian is now in rehab in Falkirk. He was sent last Friday but on Sunday had a temperature of 38 so the gp thought he should go bakc to FVH. We had to wait 4 hours on an ambulance and then another 2hours for a doctor to see him. i finally got to bed at 4am we were both shattered. Fortunatley it was a urine infection and he was transferred back to Falkirk.

    Take care

So sorry to hear Michael passed away but he is now at peace. Look after yourself and take support from your family.

You did eveything you could for him.

    God bless.

    Hi Sue

I can't imagine what you are feeling and hope that all our prayers will help you and Michael. Life is so unkind, my husband Ian was diagnosed in October and has lost the use of his legs as he had a compressed spine. I didn't sleep and cried for 3 weeks. Sometimes I think he will walk again and have at least 10 years but other times I just panic and lose it. All our plans for retirement and all the places we would see have gone. I don't know what the future will hold he is only 56 and I love him dearly.

You are a very caring person to have him at home and I'm sure he appreciates it.

Take help in your friends and family and may god comfort you.

    God bless you.

    Hi Peter

Thanks for your help. Ian cannot walk so going he needs physio and treatment for myeloma. He cannot walk YET but he has been transferred to Falkirk for physio and rehabilitation.

No good having private insurance in Scotland for myeloma as no one treats it. bah

Hopefully Ian will be ok on the dex as it makes him very anxious.

    Take care

    Hi Jo

Thanks for replying. Ian had bad side effects from the dex first time round. Couldn't sleep very anxious so I hope he will be ok this time. We do not know if he will get SCT as he has had 3 ops on his spine so he will have to be assessed later.

    Have you had SCT?

    Hi Tom

Thanks for your reply. Ian was well today so I think it is when he is coming down off the steroids his mood changes. We have just been told that he will be moving to Falkirk Royal tomorrow for intense physio and rehabilitation. It is one step[ nearer him coming home.

I bought Ian a tablet so perhaps he will go on the myeloma site and start posting.

    Hope you are keeping well.

    Hi Eve

Ian is ok now, and we have just been told he is being transferred to Falkirk tomorrow for intense physio and rehabilitation. It's great news as it's one step nearer to having him home. Ian is a little anxious as he doesn't like change and likes to be in control, but I'm sure it will be ok.

Ian sent me a valetine through moonpig today and I got quite emotional.

    Hi Helen

    Thanks for your advice.

Ian is in hospital and I mentioned to the nurse about his confusion when I was visiting. I have now phoned and asked if it could be a subclinical infection but they have taken blood samples which are fine. They are now testing his urine.

    Hi Helen

I mad an appointment with my gp today to discuss councelling as I think it will help me. Ian had councelling when he was not in the land of the living so I have requested that he has it again.

We are talking more now (switiching off the tv) and we are both very emotional. Ian's fear is that he will not walk again while mine's is the myeloma and the future without Ian but I realise that I have to take one day at a time and try not to get too anxious.

Ian was scheduled for SCT initially but he has had 3 operations on his spine and we have to wait and see if he will be fit enough. He has light chain only myeloma too and is on day 12 of his first cycle. He had to have the dex reduced to 20mg as he couldn't cope with the side effects.

This is my second marriage and although we have known each other ove 9 years, we have only been married for 5. You are vey young to have myeloma. Life is not fair. I am religious and pray evey day for god to heal Ian. I will pray for you too.

    Keep in touch.

    Hello Dai

Ian has been depressed this week and a little tearful which is hard for me to watch. I am finding it hard coping. How do you cope? I went back to work part time but I don't know if I did the right thing. Work isn't stressful but I find it difficult not to be emotional. I find I am anxious, heartbroken to see Ian cannot get out of bed and lonely without him at home.

On a brighter note, Ian was taken to the gym by the physio and when he stood, with the help of a contraption, he felt his feet on the floor for the first time. He was happier.

On day 12 of chemo and not too many side effects.

    Hi Dai

It has been a hard week for us both. Ian has been depressed and has been a little tearful. He thinks he won't walk again. I have been feeling anxious, sad and lonely andd have gone back on my tablets. How do you cope? I went back to work part time but my heart isn't in it anymore. I will persevere a few weeks and see what happens but I know I will have to give it up when Ian comes home.

On a brighter note, Ian was taken to the gym by the physios yesterday and when he stood up, he felt his feet on the floor for the first time. He was very happy.

Thanks for your advice and I will keep in touch.

    Regards

    Maureen
